Aia Mattonata Relais

My fiancé and I stayed at Aia Mattonata Relais back in May and it was simply, wonderful. The owners, Mario and Elisabetta were two of the kindest and most personable people we’ve met and truly made our stay even more memorable (Mario even went out of his way to help us with a rental car issue we had). Their quaint Tuscan villa is perfectly situated just outside of Siena, with a great view of the town from the backyard. The villa has everything you need, from its charming suites, to its manicured grounds and pool. A delicious breakfast was served every morning to start the day and wine and snacks were put out in the evening to greet you when returning from the day’s adventures. Overall, the villa provides a perfectly serene getaway for those looking to stay in the heart of Tuscany. Mario and Elisabetta also provided great suggestions of things to do and see in the area, which included one of the most scenic drives in the entire Tuscan region heading south from Siena to Asciano. On this drive, you’ll see countless quintessential Tuscan views and not much farther from there, you’ll hit Val d’Orcia valley with the towns of Pienza, Montalcino, and Montepulciano that we highly suggest to visit with great wineries and amazing food. Around here, you’ll find famous spots, such as the “Gladiator road” of Italian Cypress trees and also the villa from the movie. You’ll also see the Chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta that’s located in the hills of Val d’Orcia on the road between San Quirico d’Orcia and Pienza. Needless to say, we highly recommend staying at Aia Mattonata Relais and can’t wait to visit again!
