Le Anfore Appartamenti

If you are looking for a self contained apartment with a large verandah, hammock, barbeque, places to sit and bask in the sun, quiet, secluded and secure with a variety of wonderful and impeccably kept gardens then this is the place for you! You need a scooter to get around and this was negotiated in the price. Be prepared to arrive and depart on fixed days - Sebastian does a mad dash picking people up and dropping them off all on the same days! Usually a Saturday to Saturday. In June you will need a jumper for the evening. Some mossies around but not a problem at all with a bit of spray. I would say 95% of visitors to the little island of Lampedusa are Italian and they were amongst the most friendly, warm and welcoming people I have ever met. Take a phrase book! Enjoy the Gelato! Take a boat trip! Our host, Sebastian, caters for these but we missed out due to windy weather and went with another company. Inside the apartment was very clean and of a high standard. The kitchen needed a frying pan, peeler, cleaning materials and basics like olive oil, salt, pepper but aside from this it was very well equipped. No English channels on the TV which was great, a week off for us! La Anfore is located just outside of the centre, perhaps a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute scooter ride. We needed a scooter to get to all the beaches; Rabbit beach is the furthest away (15 mins?) but the most spectacular. My husband and I would thoroughly recommend not only La Anfore (which we shall definitely be returning to) but also the island itself. Tucked away, relaxed, friendly, hot. This is a gem I was reluctant to review... obvs. because we wanted to keep it to ourselves! So now you know. If you decide to stay at La Anfore you will need to book in advance, in particular in July and August. Prego and enjoy!
