Tenuta Santa Rosa

Off the beaten track but easy drive from Brindisi Airport with Gallipoli and the Ionian Coast close-by and easily accessible by car. We arrived late afternoon, following the directions provided, to a warm and welcoming family reception. There was plentiful parking outside under trees with direct access into the B&B accommodation, all on the one level. Surrounding the farm were orchards and vineyards for production of their own wines, where they happily showed the production process. A welcoming lounge/dining room greeted you with the four bedrooms located from each corner. A rear door provided access to an outside terrace with tables and chairs overlooking the garden orchard. The double bedroom was simple and classically decorated, not modern and standardised like a hotel but homely, with separate bathroom shower facilities. The room came with a fridge and was air-conditioned but the old thick stone walls keep the temperature comfortable during our stay, without the need to use. The bed was firm and comfortable and towels changed daily. Breakfast was provided in a cosy separate eating area, comprising of home made jams, cakes and pastries and plentiful fresh fruits from the gardens. The fresh figs were something else along with the fresh picked almonds and the home cooked food just beautiful. It was a sweet breakfast although we never asked for something else but felt they would accommodate without hesitation. Outside the front was an area for children to play, although when we stayed it was just ourselves and extremely peaceful. The town of Sannicola is only a short drive, or walk if your feeling adventurous, with some lovely restaurants and market. We enjoyed buying from the local shops to eat back at the B&B where plates and cutlery were provided along with a bottle opener. To summarise, if you are looking for a no frills, relaxing, calm environment to get away from the stresses of life then look no further. The friendliest of families and so welcoming, providing lovely food and fresh fruits in a countryside setting within easy reach of the coast, just beautiful. Highly recommend.
