94 reviewsWe arrived via A56, after three weeks of quietness we had a culture shock. Napoli drivers "ignore all road markings, including middle road ones, and anything goes - no-one has right of way - it was a free for all". We took Via Solfatara into the site, through the very snug archway, which caught the extended caravan mirrors, but hubbie was happy with using these are guides. Straight passed the building on the right and then left at campsite reception. Lovely friendly welcome, we were immediately directed to our pitch (once the guy had checked we were ok with it). Once we set up we then went back and checked in. Non delined pitches, but lots of lovely trees and cats :) Free wifi - worked great. Toilet/showers adequate - plenty of hot water with no "timed" showers. Bar/cafe had 8 euro meal deal - pasta (limited choice as already made), soft drink, gelato or coffee. Hubbie not a pasta fan, so we had a couple of large beers (40cl) for 9 euro. However this is a tourist area, not just for campers. Camping in a Volcanic Crater - just stunning. People had mentioned sulphur, we had a very mild waft a couple of times during our week there. The ground sounds hollow when pegging awnings etc. It can be dusty at times, but the staff did all they could to try and keep this down by sprinklers, etc. Unfortunately are car was broken into, when we parked it in Agnano Carrefour. The things stolen didn't affect our trip, however having no window for the remainder of our 4 weeks did cause us inconvenience (unfortunately we were at no campsite long enough for a repair to be sorted). However the guys on the campsite provided us with a bag, etc to secure the car - even offering to help with finding a garage to repair this. We had no worries with security onsite. There is a shuttle bus to Vesuvius and Pompeii which we can not recommend enough. You may think the price a little steep, but for 15 euros each and not having to drive more than an hour - this was invaluable. No issues with parking either. This does not include entry to the attractions, it does state this on the flyer - however a couple of people didnt realise this until arriving. (Vesuvius 10 euro and Pompee 13 euro per adult) All campers had unrestricted access to the Vulcano Solfatara until 10:30pm each night, which is also lit up in the evenings. Very peaceful and quite site, especially in comparison to some Italian sites. There is a supermarket also - check the opening times on the door. If they were not open, pop into the cafe/bar and one of the staff will open it for you. Lots of lovely cats, which kept us entertained for hours. Swimming pool, was just stunning - relaxing and looking up to see the walls of the crater! The shower before going in was a little chilly, just to warn you :) Wonderfully friendly campsite - would love to come back again. Just not in a "British" car - which was no reflection on the campsite.
