Villino Erminia - Seaside Art b&b

We had a wonderful time having spent our weekend in the Villino Ermina. It is in excellent location close to the historic town centre with many bars and restaurants as well as stone's throw away from the beach. 

We had two double rooms sharing a kitchen diner- apartment was very comfortable and very clean. the host and his assistant who met us with the key were very helpful.  We arrived early but were able to get into one room while the other was being cleaned, so we could leave bags and freshen up for which we were very grateful. We enjoyed talking to the very friendly neighbour and meeting her cats!

The location is great- very quiet but only a short walk to the local restaurants and bars, or a short climb up the hill to the centre of town. We loved being so close to the sea. 

Some minor niggles which we have raised with the owner-  worth checking you have everything you need in the kitchen if you plan on cooking and eating there and check that Wifi and TV/sound system are working. Generally though a lovely apartment.

+ modern, clean and well endowed appartment with washing machine
+ great host

- breakfast is VERY Italian, 1 croissant, 1 coffee and 1 juice
- no environmental thinking what so ever

We stayed in the Car apartment for a week in June. 
It is very clean, has nice large bathroom, and it is near a beach. 
The lady next door is very nice. 

As for the drawbacks/points to get better (I was in the Car Apartment, maybe others have different set of drawbacks) :
- Internet bandwidth is really limited, in the evening sometimes it just died completely

- lack of laundry dryer (there is a washing machine but where can I hang the laundry to dry? - you need to get creative e.g. use chairs) 
- lack of beach umbrella (those are quite long so it is hard to take it to a plane) 
- lack of places to put your clothes - there is only a wardrobe with hangers - there should be some drawers in the bedroom
- lack of mirror in the living room (there is a place for full sized mirror there) 
- lack of any shade on the patio (there is a hole for umbrella in the plastic table there) 
- lack of broom (there is only a really small - micro brush) or a mop to clean the floors
- lack of cups for tea or large coffee, there are only espresso ones and glasses
- lack of ladle (if you want to make a soup) 
- lack of grate (for grand padano ) 
- patio gets dirty very quickly - there are lots of swallows that drop things :), bugs and ants

There are also many cats here, if you are allergic you will need to avoid the patio as the cats like to sit on the table and chairs. But if you have a small child that likes them he/she will be delighted (like ours was). 

The beach that is nearby is quite small, man-made one (soft sand on a concrete). It has very gentle slope, so it is quite good for children. On the other hand because it is protected from the open sea the water is not that clean. 

Another note is that the way to the city center has quite a few steps. It is doable with a stroller  but might be tiring. 

All in all I recommend this apartment if you plan to stay for a week in Pizzo. For longer stays Pizzo might get boring, unless you will do sightseeing using a car. 

Very modern and clean bed and breakfast place although breakfast has to be taken at a cafe down the road.

The host, Pasquale was very helpful and had great knowledge of his local area.

As we visited in the off season a lot of things were not open in the old town of Pizzo but it is a very unspoiled charming old place with lots of history.  Not suitable for old or disabled people as very steep climb up to the piazza.
