Hotel Belmare

My brother-in-law told me I shouldn't write a review for this hotel as he wanted to keep it a secret. But I believe that good value deserves a reward so if they get more customers they deserve it. First the food; we opted for full board which includes typical italian breakfast; pastries, cakes, croissant, cereal, DIY cappuccinos or tea and juices. Lunch includes appetizers, prime piatti, secondi and desert. dinner has 4 courses too and is served at 8:00pm sharp. The food is all cooked in house, supervised by the mother of the manager, Marta. Not much english is spoken and the clientele are mostly Italian. but with a little arm waving and talking to Tanya, you'll get by. The food is wonderful; nicely cooked fish or meat dishes, great risottos and pastas. And deserts (creme caramel is delizioso) are great. Wine and water are extras. Downstairs areas are comfortable and there is an outside seating area for watching passers by that is quite secluded. Bedrooms are functional but a bit spartan, typical italian beds, but we had to ask for softer pillows ("cuscina piu morbido"). The bathroom are clean bathrooms and shower is good. Towels changed daily and beds made. The location is convenient to a bagno (Pervinca) across the street and is a 5 minute drive south to Viareggio or north to Forte di Marmi. We were able to park in the Bagno lot for free as I think they have a relationship for that purpose. Pisa is a 35 minute drive as is Lucca.This is a typical family run 3 star italian hotel with excellent food service and value.
