B&B Casa Grant

We were a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children, and stayed here from 23-28 October 2016. A special thank you to Licia, who lovingly took care of us throughout our stay. We miss your breakfast. Casa Grant has four rooms and is situated on the fifth floor of a block not easily recognisable but Boris rang us on arrival (we arrived close to 11pm) and met us outside and helped explain the car parking situation. We did hire a car, free street parking is easily found outside the B&B. Boris and Licia were marvellous, and on introductions, Boris explained our location to the sights whilst Licia made reservations for us at the restaurant across to them as we were hungry. The location is great and is a five minute walk to the back of the Teatro Politeama. From here you can carry on walking or catch the bus to any of the sights, markets and cathedrals (20-30 mins walk to sights). Once you get your bearings, you will realise that it is walkable from one place to another. There are many eating places nearby or street food outside and the evening atmosphere is friendly, warm and energetic. Young crowds of people do gather on the square in the evenings until early hours but it is very safe to walk around and they do not bother you at all and keep to themselves. Oh and please, do try the local food stalls. The neighbourhood is friendly and the locals will help with directions or queries as discovered on our first couple of days being there. We had two rooms, Arianna and Flavia, both had balconies overlooking the square and were great to sit and people watch. Both rooms were very spacious, comfortable and clean. I am a light sleeper but had no problem falling asleep, as the mattress and pillows were just as I like it. Both rooms had internet and charging points for phone etc. The AC worked well. You could also view Netflix on the television if you have an account (just remember to sign off when you leave). It was indeed a welcome retreat to come back to after a long day out. The bathrooms were big and had a bidet, which I greatly appreciated, as I do not have one at home. Breakfast was amazing and prepared by Licia who could not do enough to feed us. My children loved the Sicilian spread each morning, which consisted of plentiful cereals, bread, pastries, cheese, ham etc. Licha would always say at the end of breakfast “tomorrow we try …. ” and describe what we were going to have whether it was arancine or pizza like- sfincione or the one of the many typical Sicilian treats. We are normally hotel staying people when on holiday and this was the first time we stayed in a B&B. I am so glad we did as I would not hesitate to recommend Casa Grant in Palermo.
