cozy , pleasant interior design, the owner very friendly and very communicative, helpful in providing any information , only requirement is knowledge of Italian :) , surprising breakfast ' rich form , delicious local homemade jam, a small shop opposite, for short stay recommended

My wife and I arrived in Ulassai on June 2013  from the North East Coast of Sardinia in our rented car. We had not made any reservation, but were immediately cordially welcomed by Paolo and Isabel. We got an excellent room with own good bathroom. The environment was quiet (no ambient noise), and we slept well there 3 nights. Conversations went amazingly well in spite of our non-existing knowledge in the beautiful Italian language. Isabel was very friendly and helpful to us!

My husband and I have recently spent a night in this beautiful, cosy B&B in the heart of one of the most attractive and less known regions in Sardinia, Ogliastra, with breath taking views. Ulassai, a very small village surrounded by the "Tacchi",typical mountains of this area, was in our map because we wanted to visit the museum dedicated to the great artist Maria Lai who died in April last year. We actually chose Lo scialle della luna because we were attracted to its name, which is the title of a work by Maria Lai.
When we met Isabel and Paolo, we were overwhelmed by their warm welcome. Their B&B is located in the old town, close to many of Maria Lai's works, displayed around the village. When we were shown our pretty bedroom and told the price, we could hardly believe that we were getting our own bathroom (one usually has to share it with someone else) with plenty of towels and other facilities, such as TV. Breakfast in the morning, after a good sleep in a comfortable bed, was a real treat: we wouldn't have expected home baked bread and cakes, home made jams (Isabel insisted we accepted a selection of them to take home), several locally produced types of honey. As well as a sweet breakfast, we were offered the savoury option, consisting of locally produced cheeses, sausages and the best "guanciale" ever, everything accompanied by a large selection of juices, coffees and teas.
After breakfast, we were given more ideas of what to do in Ulassai and found out that one day is not enough to appreciate the beauty of this place surrounded by a breath taking scenario.
