Fantastic
97 reviewsThis was an absolutely lovely stay. I was visiting my boyfriend who is from Italy (I'm American from New York). We decided to get away and spend one night in this cabin before I returned back to the States. Everything was brand new, and the upstairs looked like it was under construction. Possibly more rooms to accomodate larger families. I absolutely loved the basement, or as I called, the spa. It literally felt like a spa. There was a hot tub that was prepared warm and bubbly. A sauna of which I had enjoyed, but my boyfriend disliked because he doesn't like to be in hot areas; not the fault of the sauna. Underneath the staircase was a salt room full of Himalayan pink salt bricks with gravel-like pieces on the floor. We spent ten minutes and I felt like I breathed better. The owners sell salt lamps for 20 euros, of which my boyfriend purchased with me being tempted to bring one of my own home. They also offer massages by the owner's wife, who is a licensed massage therapist. Gentle music was played while we enjoyed our spa experience, such as soft piano and Enya. There was a case filled with local beers, jellies, and other lovely gifts for sale. Complimentary tea was available in a lovely tea set I wished I could've purchased. Candles flickered about, which made me wish I could spend one more night. The basement has a bathroom with a washing machine, which is very convenient to those with a long term stay. The bedrooms also make up the loveliness of the cabin. We stayed in the one called "Camera Bucaneve", which is a large room with a double bed. The wooden walls give away its natural beauty to its location, Parco Gran Paradiso. There is a bathroom next to the bedroom. There were two other bedrooms, but they weren't in use during our stay. Towels and bathrobes were provided with the cabin's name embroidered. The upstairs bathroom has a hydrotherapy bathtub. Breakfast was provided at the time we requested, though we were asked what time we wanted it. They offer lunch and dinner available as a menu with their prices. I can imagine this cabin to be a godsend to those who just had an immense hike or sport related activity and just want to rest. This cabin is unique because you not only get to take a nap in your room, but you have great amenities to be in tranquillity. You can relax in the hot tub or book an appointment for a massage. My boyfriend and I decided that one night wasn't enough. We actually wanted to spend another night just to enjoy the amenities again! When I come back to Italy in the summer, hopefully we can make that happen. An advice to those from the U.S and is looking for a place to stay while in northern Italy: You have to check this place out! It is in a beautiful and serene location, the cabin is very clean, the amenities can't be beat as I don't think other places offer them, and there are tons of things to do if you have an active lifestyle, such as hiking, kayaking, and skiing. This also makes for a romantic getaway at a far away place; sometimes you don't have to go to a major city to feel like you're away! If safety is an issue, the owners have a cabin of their own right next door. If there is anything concerning you, they are right there to assist you. They are extremely friendly and definitely make you feel like a special guest. They even recommened a great place to have lunch, which was an excellent place, but unfortunately I don't remember the name. I am excited about returning to Italy, but also looking forward to book more than a one night stay. You won't be dissappointed! I hope to come back to Il Maiolandro!
