Mimì sul Mare

This apartment is in a fabulous old grain storage building with the original stone exterior that has been made into several apartments. Our apartment on the second floor was spacious and bright with views of the sea out the 'family room' window. The windows have these great shutters that you can leave open all night to fall asleep with the sounds of life going on around you..outside the bedroom windows is a small restaurant that has entertainertainment in the evenings, we weren't able to figure out if it was live or not, that is lovely to fall asleep to because you know Italians, they are night owls! It was never too much or too loud.. The bedrooms have plenty of storage and big beds, one a queen and the other king (two twins together) especially if like us and you plant yourself there for a week! The kitchen is equipped with the basics, and the washing machine, we cooked some, especially breakfasts. Salvatore was kind enough to make sure there was water in the fridge! There is a little market in the main piazza, but also a little larger one up the hill in the town and a large Conad grocery with fresh meat and necessities in the town San A'gata about 5km from the house. The best bonus for staying in the apartment is you get reserved beach chairs and an umbrella! These are absolutely fabulous as are the guys that set them up! Don't forget to tip at the end of your stay.. there is a little path to the left of the beach (as you face the ocean) between the 2 restaurants Maria Garzie and Il Cantone that you can walk over to the next cove where another little hotel is and is good for snorkeling. At the beach you can rent boats and sign up for cruises to Capri and Amalfi for about €40 each for a full day. The cruise directors Vincenzo and Giovanni are fabulous! We had a wonderful day with them! There are several good restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. The pizza place is wonderful and right on the beach, the servers are attentive and speak some English. The gelato place next door is also yummy, the ciccolato is dark and scrumptious! The harbor is a stopping point for all sorts of boats. From large yachts to small sail boats and is a great people watching spot all day and evening! One downside is if you drive a car be prepared for the huge! parking fees. The closest to the apartment was €15 a day..and believe me we looked! And the gatekeeper, well suffice it to say, he knows when you are coming and going at anytime of day or night... We will definitely return here for a week of rest and beautiful relaxation!
