Agriturismo Il Casalone

We stayed at this organic olive farm in October, and wish we could have changed our plans to have stayed longer. The photos do not do it justice. The rooms are very large and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with enough pots and pans to cook your own dinner and breakfast.The fridge contained butter and home-made jams, and the cupboard was filled with both gluten-free and regular bread, cookies and biscuits. The garden behind the rooms were gorgeous, and we were invited to top off our own salads with their produce (a bit, not in lieu of one's own shopping.) There was a small outbuilding with a washing machine and a place to hang clothes outside. Each of the apartments had their own outdoor table and chairs. We were there during beautiful sunny weather with cool nights, and could have paid for optional heat, which we did not need to turn on. The grounds, however, were simply amazing with a variety of spots to relax or to walk. I spent time poolside to read and have a coffee and could barely keep my eyes on my book due to the lovely view. As it is on a hilltop, there is a different view from the back. We were there after the wheat had been harvested, but the olives were being picked and it was a joy to see this working farm and to help for a few minutes. We bought olive oil and saffron to take home and our son, who is learning to be a chef, said it was the best he has ever had. We hope to return for refills.
