My wife and I bicycled from Matera to Hotel Belvedere on our way to the Gargano peninsula. The woman at the reception greeted us warmly but told us that the restaurant was closed because it was off season. We did not want to have to bike the 1-1/2 km back into town and asked about a taxi. They said that they would drive us into town and bring us back. They took us to a local delicious seafood restaurant and picked us up afterwards. The hotel was SPOTLESS! ! One of the cleanist we have stayed in.
