The Queen Tower

The best thing about this place is the owners, they are wonderfully local people. I am fed up with corporate places and it was a pleasure to stay somewhere that had no pretence of anything like that. The owners were wonderfully helpful and definitely had their own way of doing things. You can hire e-bikes quite reasonably compared to how much I have paid in the alps and America, this makes a pleasant activity for the day and they were delivered to the place for no extra charge. The beds are comfortable and the place is very clean. The breakfast is amazing. Seating is around a communal table which seemed strange at first, but this led to some great conversations with people that probably would not happen otherwise. I would maybe suggest to the owners that if there were fewer pictures and ornaments the ones that they have would look better, this is a matter of personal taste. It is not normal in hotels to see so many signs in a bathroom. Outside the front door the owners have a tablet on the wall showing pictures of the rooms together with a short music loop, presumably to attract attention. At night it was so hot that we had the windows open and and all I could hear for hours was that 10 second loop which meant I my sleep was disturbed for hours. It would be better if a longer piece of classical music was used, or just get rid of it and get a professional in the hotel business to redesign the front as it is quite tacky and not normal to have this. As for Lake Garda, I was quite surprised at how busy it was and how just about every bit of the coastline was built on. The light is interesting here and the setting is beautiful. For me the place was overdeveloped, a victim of it's own success but at least it is Italian in style and not horrible. If you want a pleasant place to stay for a couple of days this place will suit you well. A thank you to the owners and I wish them well.
