Torrismondi is a well-run appropriately priced hotel not far from the station in a non-touristy town where prices are generally affordable. The old town (Centro storico) is about a 15 minute walk away, but for rail travellers, 2 to 3 minutes walk to the station. Cuneo is off the tourist beat so brush up on your Italian and enjoy local non-tourist prices. The Chinese family running the hotel do a good job and rooms are no-frills spartan but very clean and relatively spacious. Breakfast is Italian style buffet and worth taking (was included in my room rate). The right place to stay before that train in the morning ....
