La Grencaia

Franco and Carla's villa in Tuscany was an absolute dream. We were a family of 7 and we each had our own private bedroom with bathroom that was lovely and spacious. The common areas (kitchen, living room, garden, pool) were amazing and could not have been more perfect! The kitchen was large and welcoming, with everything you need to make homemade pasta in true Italian fashion. The garden and pool areas were remarkable - we even had access to their garden to pick fresh tomatoes and herbs for dinner. The property itself is sprawling and very quiet and private. The design and decor was absolutely stunning - everything felt authentic and true to Tuscan design, but with modern amenities and lovely antiques. Franco and Carla were just a short distance away, checking in on us to be sure that everything was perfect and bringing us homemade treats. The location was excellent - just a 10 minute drive from the famous gardens at La Foce, and a 30 minute drive from the train station at Chiusi-Chianciano terme (where you are able to rent a car). We took day trips (also a 30 minute drive) to Montepulciano and Pienza, so the location was just right. There are large grocery stores in Chiusi and Montepulciano - I recommend stocking up so you are set for the week! As for amenities, the villa was equipped with a washing machine (no dryer - you only need the clothesline anyway) and a dishwasher. There was TV with satellite (if the World Cup soccer matches weren't on, we wouldn't need TV!). The pool was not heated, but it's definitely better off that way. There was no A/C, but there were fans throughout the property that were powerful enough to keep everything cool, even during very hot days. It was a concern for us at first, but you definitely won't need more than the fans. It gets quite cool overnight, and the temperatures are always a few degrees lower than neighbouring towns. Overall, we could not have asked for a better time in Tuscany. We would absolutely stay there again in the future. Grazie mille, Carla e Franco!
