A fairy tale wedding was held here. Everything about the Tenuta was beautiful and super romantic. The food (for well over 100 people) was very good and the service excellent. 
We would love to come back!

Country estate converted to a boutique hotel. Excellent staff, lovely rooms, exceptional grounds.  A bit off the beaten track and well worth the drive. Still a working farm with citrus and olive orchards. 

Room was large with a fire place and nice size bathroom; located in the main building, opening onto the center courtyard.

Meals excellent - we were asked for our suggestions prior to the staff going to the market.

Grounds are meticulously maintained and beautifully landscaped.

We just loved it.  A very quiet & remote place almost like a garden of eden. Staff great. Rooms lovely and spacious.  We went for a walk around the property and it took us about 3 & a half hours. My 3 year old girl just loved the idea of doing picnics and going for walks.  There are also stables.  Nothing to distract you except being relaxed and one with nature.  Would recommend it to everyone who needs a real break from everything.

Lovely setting with a beautiful pool. Breakfast was a bit disappointing but the room layout and space in and out were outstanding.
Need to change their website directions as sends you to wrong gate.
Excellent for families where the self catering facilities are excellent- allows you to go out exploring during the day and have a typical Sicilian lunch while then enjoying a nice meal at home.

I was there with my husband end of july. The place is incredible, the garden is a mix of scents, the swimming pool is so perfect that you hardly see it. We had dinner one night and the atmosphere was so romantic.
This is a place I will surely go back to make peace with the all world.

I went to San Calogero with my girlfriend and loved it so much we are now planning to rent the place for our wedding. This is an absolutely stunning old Italian/Sicilian farm, carefully restored five star standard hotel and with apartments and a beautiful villa for rental as well. They have horses and a saltwater pool. This place is family owned and has that incredible charm which only comes when the same family has owned and run the place for generations.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a tranquil and relaxing holiday with ready access to fantastic sightseeing in Catania and Siracusa and the rest of Eastern Sicily. You can even see Etna from the garden!

I would also recommend trying the restaurants in nearby Brucoli which are amazing!

We had the opportunity to visit the Commenda for a wedding recently.  The property is in the countryside down dirt roads behind a gate. Let's just say it does not have a street address.   It is indeed like stepping back in time a bit.  The rooms were comfortable and decorated in cheery colors. They offered breakfast and also we had a couple of dinners there.  If you are looking for an event location for a wedding or anniversary this may be for you.  Our group took over the property where the hotel is as well as renting the villa and it was perfect for that.  Truly a unique location if you wish to be a bit removed from the towns and have a private event.

I attended a wedding lunch. I was impressed with the location which is the utmost typical Sicilian farmhouse with a splendid view.  It's not easy to walk around with high heels (as most women will be wearing during a wedding) but the premises are just wonderful.  There were plenty of staff members  to deal with the large number of guests.  The disappointment was the small quantity of food dropped on the plate.  The rice with shrimp was overcooked but still tasty; the past with swordfish and eggplant was delicious but you had to be satisfied with a small scoop being dropped on the dish.  The shiskabab of fish contained only 2 regular-sized shrimps and a piece of swordfish: that was it! The salad was just a spoonful of food: delicious but just too scant.  If you would ask for a second scoop the waiter would tell you that there was no more...  Just unacceptable!
