Fantastic place for a family with two or three kids, we spent two months there and are very happy with the value for money and the service we had. Good location, though you need to walk 10 minutes to the sea and the old city. Clean apparent, towels and clothes change every week. A lot of destinations could be reached from there by car. Water park La Caravelle is just 10 minutes drive. Big supermarket in 5 minutes drive and a smaller one just 3 minutes walking. Anya and Alexey

Excellent apartments - spacious, new, nicely decorated, with a huge terrace, equipped with everything you need for a week or two. Just like on the pictures!
Convenient location, lots of parking spaces, very close to the supermarket, just 10 mins to the beach and historic centre, lots of cafes and restaurants around.
The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful.

The apartment was very large and had lots of space for our family of 6. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need, a fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher)iron and ironing board, hair dryer and a massive wrap around balcony with fantastic outside living space including a hammock,large dining table and deck chairs for sunbathing. 5-10 mins walk away is the walled medieval old town with lots of great restaurants also the beaches are within walking distance or you can use one of the apartments bikes,which are great for getting around on and can be used by all residents.
Our reason for choosing the area of Liguria was for the amazing mountain biking in Finale Ligure which is only 20 mins drive away from Albenga.My sons and partner said the mountain biking was fantastic and the guides  very experienced. The Aia De Mare is a great central base to travel to other coastal towns, we went to Alassio, Portofino, finalborgo etc but also to bike or drive into the beautiful mountain villages close by. The apartments are owned by Luisella and her husband and their son Andrea, nothing is any trouble for them they are wonderful hosts and made us so welcome it was home from home. They let us store our bikes in a secure place and helped with any local information needed. Wot really wonderful friendly people they are, we had a great stay in a great apartment. Thank You Luisella and Andrea. We could be back for more mountain biking!! 

Aia de Ma is a great and very well kept  place. The apartment was spacious , clean and fairly well equipped . We could have done with a few more glasses , though. The air condition worked very well and there was a big balcony. The staff was very friendly

Great apartment

We booked this appartment solely based on the great reviews it has gotten. Maybe we were unlucky but we were very disappointed! 
We ran into some problems at the time of booking already, where I booked a room on booking.com and later the same day recieved an email from Aia dei Ma saying that they had no rooms available, but if we could postpone our arrival a couple of days they could offer an upgrade to an even bigger appartment at the same rate which was very nice of them. Before I could see if it was possible to change our travelplans however i got an email 2 hours later saying "good news!! One of our guest has changed his booking so we can now host you during the days you have already made the reservation." Fine, we kept our reservation made through booking.com and were happy that Luisella had tried to accommodate us.
At our arrival the check in went smooth and the guy (Luisella's son I presume) was very friendly and helpful. But the dissapoimtment came when we saw the room. It was not at all what we had expected and actually not what we had booked. This room was smaller and austere, not at all the "bright, spacious" appartment that everyone else described here on TripAdvisor. I look at the pictures and nowhere can I find pictures if the room we got, neither here or on their website. Only the nice, big appartments with lots of room. Maybe our expectations were too high and maybe it is a more accurate description of the appartments higher up. But for us, with a baby cot in the bedroom we could hardly walk around the bed for example. And since we had gotten the advice not to leave anything in the car, the whole livingroom was full of our luggade. The bathroom was planned realky strangely making it tighter than it could have been. And with bars on windows and doors we felt a little inprisoned. It was however clean and had a fully functional kitchen. The appartment was on the ground floor and it was nice to have a little patch of grass so that our 2-year-old could run around, but for us parents it wasn't that much fun staring into a wall/hedge. Again, we had expected a big balcony/terrace which would have given more light to the room and a view.  
The next day my husband went to the reception to tell them we were not satisfied with the room and asked if we could either have the room we booked or alternatively leave a day early. They appologized and said they could give us a bigger room higher up. Then when we go to have a look at the room and get the key Luisella says that she wants €50 cleaning fee (although cleaning is included and later her son said instead that it was an upgrade fee). We were caught off guard with this and said fine, but the more we thought about it we felt cheated and went back and told her it was not okey. So she agreed to let us leave a day early because she did not want problem. 
At check out she still gave us a bill for three nights meaning that it was their booking policy, even though she had okeyed our early departure and you could debate wether or not that booking was even void since we did not get what we booked and no notification regarding this. Plus we were still charged for the bigger room. 
We refused to pay for three nights and at the end she gave in with the same response, she didn't want any problems. 
We did not leave on good terms you could say and I am sure they thought of us as guests from hell, but if it had been clear from the start what we were getting then maybe it wouldn't have been such a disaster!
