The hotel is too old and needs a proper makeover. The swimming-pool was out of order - as it was in May - but the receptionist assured me, that it was working yesterday. Wi-Fi only in the lobby. Staff in restaurant and bar are super! But the rooms are just not up to it. Two out of three tiny elevators worked. If anyone invests a couple of millions, the hotel can be Grand again

This hotel was Grand

We were surprised at the extremely long distance from train station to the hotel.  The town and the temples were far away, and bus or taxi rides long and not inexpensive.  The hotel itself was extremely shabby.  Bathrooms and decor outdated, worn, and barely functioning.    Wifi not available except in the lobby, which was not really a place I would want to spend time.    We ordered a drink at the bar before retiring, and after about a 15 minute wait, they served us warm gin and tonic with no ice.   When we requested ice, they told us the machine was broken .    We did not drink the cocktails and sent them back.  They insisted on charging us anyway.  Obviously, not a place that depends on repeat business.

Inconvenient location, tired and shabby hotel catering to the one-time customer.

Unless you're really desperate for a place to sleep, DO NOT go there. It's rated as a 4-star hotel and am really wondering HOW and WHY - I'd give it a one just like I did here. The carpets were filthy in the hallways AND the rooms. I didn't walk barefoot in the room because they were stained and smelled. The room we got was last updated probably sometime in the 70's. The furniture was very old and barely functional. There was a little refrigerator that did not work which we happened to need. The old TV box didn't work and waited 30 minutes to get another one and ended up just having a few local channels. When I called the hotel a few hours prior our check-in, there was a very irritating sound to the point when I had to distance my mobile from my hear. The same thing happened when i called from our room to the reception. There was NO WIFI in the room, just in the lounge area.
The breakfast was actually OK but that's pretty much the only positive thing I can think of. All in all, it was a horrible experience and money thrown out of the window.

Expect a one-star hotel, not a 4-star one !!! Total waste of money.

Unbelievable that any accommodation rating service could grace this place with 4 stars...the place passed it's prime in the 70's. No TV service, no mini bars, 1 elevator in service, rugs stained and worn, walls scuffed and dirty. Not even plastic glasses in the room, you have to ask at the front desk..
Somebody needs to get there, review the joint and update the status on this hotel, to save other people's expectation of quality accommodations.

4 stars???

This hotel might have been awesome in 1974. And then someone decided to not maintain it for the next 40 years. 

We stayed here for two nights as a base for the Valley of the Temples - it was apparently the only hotel with a vacancy when we booked. Gee, wonder why? 

This hotel has seen far better days, but THESE DAYS, it is a tired and old hotel that is in need of a major facelift. It has good bones, and IMHO, it is in need of primarily cosmetic work. The staff were fantastic, the DJ at the pool was entertaining, and the breakfast was par for the course. 

The pros:
 - close the the Valley of the Temples
 - lots of parking
 - clean pool
 - helpful and friendly staff
 - good proximity to some markets and liquor stores
 - good proximity to the beach (San Leone - lots of dining options there)

The cons:
 - old and gross (some rooms had laminate flooring which was far less gross than the 40 year old carpet!)
 - no wifi in rooms (lobby-only)
 - smallest shower ever
 - horrible balcony views (the backside overlooked the garbage area - nice!)
 - pool is 6 feet deep from end to end - great if you like treading water!
 - only one elevator was working, and the elevators hold maybe 3 people...we got really friendly with the circular staircase!

All in all, we survived, but there are a ton of choices in the area (when available) - not sure how this place is pulling 4 stars!
