We usually stay in one of the hotels in the town centre but decided to try B&B this time. Ros-earl is in a good location, approx 10 minute walk into town. Our party of four were greeted by Martin and Breege on arrival and shown to our rooms. My twin room was light, clean and airy with a shower and basin. Our loo was down thew hall but not a problem, my wife used room shower while I went to bathroom. No wardrobe in the room but only stayed 3 nights so lived "out of suitcase" and on hangers provided. Breakfast was exactly what we asked for (some just wanted toast or scrambled eggs but wife and I had full breakfasts) and very tasty too. Good free wi-fi and outside "smokers den" for my wife. Martin is a mine of info about places and people around the town, a very sociable guy.  This B&B has a very good, convenient, quiet location and we were all very happy with the experience and costs.

This B&B was very clean and very close to town (within walking distance), less than 1 mile.  The owners were friendly and very accommodating.  We didn't make reservations ahead of time and were welcomed as a walk in.  Price was very reasonable.

First Time B&B To Donegal

Convenient to town

Booked the room at the last minute but told the owner on the phone  that we would be late getting to him and he was absolutely fine with that.However once we got there we were told off for arriving so late and had we not read the terms of booking !!! We arrived exactly at the time we had told him on the phone... Certainly not the Irish welcome one would expect!!!
The room was very dated and needs a redecorating and updating and the on suite is tiny with very poor pressure in the shower and the smallest of hand basins .
Also there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the house.
The mattresses were very uncomfortable and need to be changed .. you could feel every spring in them under your back... not somewhere I would stay again and only stayed as it was such a last minute booking.

Our room was very clean, but the bathroom wasn't super well stocked.   The shower's water pressure is low, but the water warms up pretty fast.  They did not include breakfast with the price, so it was a bit pricey, but it did work out for us because we only had enough to pay for 2 nights without breakfast.  There is a grocery store down the road to buy breakfast from.  The absolute worst thing is the smoke smell.  I think it gave me a bit of a headache.

We were looking for one  room for 3 ladies. They posted the room as a double so we were forced to rent 2 separate rooms. We arrive and the room was actually what we wanted- a triple, but was not able to book. We HAD 2 get 2 rooms.not happy about that but he said we could stay in one room and they would give us a 'discount'. One of the hosts smoked which was pretty nasty but we  stayed in a downstairs basement room so smoke didn't come down the stairs. Woman was fairly rude.  Room was large and clean with a bit of mold in shower,  had a mini fridge, beds were hard and uncomfortable, and curtain was very light so morning sun woke us up VERY early.
Then we find out they charge for Internet 2 E, AND charged us 7.95 for breakfast! Coffee was instant. YUCK. I thought a B&B was supposed to include breakfast.
 They are close to town. They did us a small discount but still feel we had to pay for a room without it being given fairly represent ed on line.

Extra charges, smoky, 

This was a poor experience overall. We were party of 4 (my girlfriend and I and my brother and his fiancee) and were visiting family in Ireland. 

Because this is listed as a B&B I assumed (maybe naively) that breakfast was included. As the owner just asked if we were having a full-Irish breakfast in the mornings, we thought nothing of it and said yes please. Well, the first morning the wife cooked and Jeezus it was bad - two chipolata sausage that on a scale of rare to well-done it would have fallen somewhere between coal and cremated in the hellfire below. Add to that one slice of bacon, an overcooked fried egg, and half a loaf of bread and we were set for the day (sarcasm). There is a choice of stale breakfast cereals to choose from though once you are inevitably left unsatisfied with breakfast. The bloke cooked the second days breakfast which was marginally better and included a weird hash brown thing but still it was no great shakes. We also heard the bloke coughing up his guts in the kitchen which was nasty enough imagining him preparing your food but I then caught him wiping his mouth on the tea towel that was casually draped over his shoulder. Perhaps approximately for Ireland, I turned green. Worst of all though, we were charged €90 for 4 peoples breakfast over 2 days. That's €11.25 each (~£9.90)! Unadvertised price, extortionate and worse than poor quality. We could've gone to a cafe in town for a much better breakfast.  

Additionally the rooms smelled of smoke. The mattresses were uncomfortable. There was no sea view as advertised (see attached photo). Not quire sure what the deal with the wifi was - one room had a welcome pack with the wifi code and the other did not so one couple had wifi and the other did not. 

The owners probably won't read this so things are unlikely to change. I would forewarn any others looking at staying there and advise somewhere (anywhere) else.

Advice for selecting the best room - Book elsewhere!

Visited this B&B recently on a trip to donegal rally 2016, as soon as we arrived we had to use back door as a new front door was being put in which was fair enough, as soon as we wet in the back door the female owner/wife was a bit ignorant in the way she talked to us, we where then showed to our room by the husband (who was actually quite nice) we got the two front rooms I visited this B&B with my girlfriend and my good friend who was also with his girlfriend this seemed to a problem because the wife must have  approved because we aren't married which really had nothing to do with her but anyway room was clean and tidy but the shower was more less next to our bed, and no toilet in room so we had to use on one the hall, we where all in about 10 o'clock that night and in to bed and watched for a hour and went to sleep, at breakfast the wife said that we where noisy and people where trying to sleep which was total and utter lies because we had made no noise at this point I was ready for telling her to give me my money and I would leave because the B&B was a service and I didn't need to be there but I stayed for the second night and the husband was there this morning and made breakfast and it was far more pleasant, I would like to thank him for his hospitality. You feel like you have to whisper and go to bed early I was nearly gunna sleep in my car the second night because I was scared of saying something I regretted to the wife. Will never be back and if your wise and don't want the same experience you will not go.
