Headed to clifden eco beach campsite last Saturday for walking holiday. I cannot praise the campsite highly enough. The views were outstanding. The facilities were spotless. It is also so central to so many beautifulhiking areas.  Kris the owner was so helpful and welcoming.  Would highly recommend this beautiful spot. 

I really enjoyed staying at this unique campsite. The views were spectacular, the private beach was magical and the staff were very helpful. I would highly recommended if you are visiting the west of Ireland to check out this campsite.

Clifden Eco is definitely one to put on your "to-do" list. Beautiful scenery, nice roomy pitches, great location. There is an endearing quality to the "roughness" of Clifden eco. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. During our visit on October 2023, the facilities and the reception looked like they'd been "used hard", but I guess this is the way things are each year for many campsites at the end of the season. 
It was a pleasure to chat with Chris and hear about the improvements that he and his partner have planned for the future of the site. 
Chris was very helpful in getting us set up on the perfect pitch when we arrived, and again a few days later helping us to extract our caravan when our front-wheel drive car struggled with slopes and wet grass. Many thanks for the help and the hospitality Chris.
We look forward to returning again in the future.



Absolutely fantastic campsite. 
The private beach was great with golden sand and clear turquoise water. Kris was very welcoming and friendly.

Amazing campsite.  A very warm welcome from kris and tatjana.  The weather was great for the time of year. The spacing between campers is great, although it was busy we felt quite comfortable.  I have to say  one of our best experiences on our trip was the luxury of sitting or floating in a whiskey barrel on the campsites private beach. It was a full on outdoor spa experience and to top it off you get treated with oil made from seaweed washed up on the shore. Fantastic. Thanks kris and tatjana we will spread the word.

We stayed here on a windy night in November 2022, and although the weather was against us, it did not take away from this terrific location and the views were beautiful. The campsite is a great destination point and makes a good base for enjoying the delights of the surrounding area and Connemara National Park. The owners are genuine nice folks and have a really good ethos, and you can see the dedication being made to provide a full facility and safe haven for the adventurers and weary travellers moving along the Wild Atlantic Way. We'd be happy to take a much longer holiday in this one location if ever we have the chance! WE WILL RETURN!  In the meantime, we will recommend this terrific campsite to all and sundry!

I have been visiting  this campsite every year since 2012. It is one of the most beautiful places to stay in Ireland. With its private beach, beautiful scenery, wild and rugged coastline and fabulous hosts, there is nothing to compare. It is very safe, the beach is never crowded, the water is crystal clear, and the facilities are very clean.

Perfect location for swimming, snorkeling,  kayaking, paddle boarding and windsurfing. Perfect as a base to tour Connemara.

A wonderful place with amazing views in all directions and a well laid out, natural feel to the camping pitches. The owners were great, friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend and we cant wait to return, it was one of the highlights of our trip and the best camping site.

We are a family of 5 (+dog) and we stayed for 12 nights from late July until early August in our motorhome. We had a wonderful time as always (this was our 6th year staying).  There is always a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere on the campsite. Lots of great walks in the local area. Swimming every day in the crystal-clear water at the campsites private beach. Stunningly beautiful location. Just wonderful.

We’ve been trying to get back for our second visit for a while but life and COVID got in the way! We managed it this year and have just spent a blissful ten days. It was lovely to see Kris and Tatjana again and we received a very warm welcome. Our pitch was perfect for us to watch the tide drift in and out.  The site is peaceful and we had the beach to ourselves most times we were down there. We took the plunge with one of Mark’s seaweed hotbtubs located on the beach and would highly recommend the experience to anybody. Thank you both and we’ll see you in 2024.

Just beautiful

My first ever holiday in my caravan! 
I towed my caravan from Dublin with my two dogs , for our first ever camping holiday experience . 
The words “private beach “ were what had hooked me in ! I certainly was not disappointed…. This place is absolutely fabulous! 
Each individual site is spaced giving lots of privacy, yet with only a couple of mins from the facilities and beach . Very secure and safe … I never locked either my van or my caravan at anytime! 
The beach is a beautiful horseshoe shaped cove with white sand and crystal clear water …. I swam every day actually my first time in quite a few years …
The showers and toilets are extremely well maintained.. spotless at all times . 
It was ideal for me as a solo traveler and also my dogs !
The hosts were really great and always available . 
I had the most amazing week of relaxation, peace and quiet, amongst breathtaking scenery…. Wait till you see the sunsets !!!!
I have already booked again for next year !

The first … of many !!!

Just back from two wonderful weeks at Clifden Eco Beach.  An absolute gem and wonderful to stay somewhere that is so eco conscious but doesn't shove it down your throat!
It has a beautiful private beach and a code to get in the gate, so very safe if you have kids.  Considering the Irish weather, it's great to be camping on/around sand dunes as it doesn't get mucky no matter how much rain.
The beach is wonderful for swimming, snorkelling, paddle boards etc.  Also great for kids to just dig hole and have fun!
Toilets and showers are basic but exceptionally clean.  Shower is €1 for 3 minutes, which is very fair.  Plenty of fridges & freezers in the kitchen.  Sinks for washing up and a microwave & kettle.
All in all a wonderful vibe, with brilliant hosts in an amazing part of the country.

Fabulous place all round

We camped with our four-year old daughter and found the site to be quiet, family-friendly, with good facilities. People had camper vans, Recreational vehicles and tents. There is an onsite private beach as well, with a seaweed bath service (in old distillery barrels) run by a lovely man called Mark. It was like an eco luxury service. We did it with our daughter, family price per hour is 65 euros, which is well worth it. The Connemara landscape is stunning. If you like camping, and want a friendly, quiet stay, then this is for you. Finally, there is a barrier with code access to ensure security. Owners Kris and Tatiana are responsive, friendly and helpful, and onsite almost 12 hours a day.
