I’ve always dreamt of a perfect bed and breakfast in Ireland, with the perfect host, and i hit the jackpot on my first try! When planning our trip I had to choose between staying in Dublin to experience the hustle and bustle, or choose a suburb for more of a calm escape with easy city access. Then I had to decide whether to use AirBnB or trust that a place like Evergreen Bed & Breakfast would fit our needs, even though I couldn’t book online. I emailed back and forth with the host, Olive, and found those first exchanges to be very pleasant so I trusted my gut and reserved the dates. She was very accommodating, even when I realized I booked the wrong dates! 

Our plane landed very early around 5am, we picked up our rental car and headed toward Malahide. Upon arriving I realized I had never made arrangements to show up so early! Check in wasn’t until the afternoon, so we drove to downtown Malahide, (short 10-15 min drive), and took gorgeous pictures of an Irish East Coast sunrise. It took my breath away!! We stopped at Starbucks to connect to WiFi and contact Olive, who agreed to hold our bags while we went into the city for the day. 

That night we were exhausted and fell asleep before the sun went down. We slept like babies, the room was comfortable and had a clean and private en suite. We sat in the breakfast room with beautiful big windows looking out into the garden. There were plenty of things available to fix ourselves a breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit, tea/coffee etc, but Olive provides an actual menu and will make you anything you like within reason! We split a traditional Irish breakfast which was filling and delicious. 

The next day we were so sad to leave, every interaction with Olive was so pleasant we really miss her hospitality. When we booked the reservation she requested we pay in cash, which we did right before leaving on our last day. 

I look forward to visiting again one day :)

Quintessential BnB

A great little b&b with a warm and welcoming hostess.
The bedrooms are quiet, warm and comfortable and are equipped with everything you need. Spotlessly clean with good beds and en-suites with plenty of hot water. 
In the delightful breakfast room overlooking the garden Olive serves a delicious, plentiful hot breakfast made to order.
Situated in beautiful grounds, Evergreen is a little haven in Malahide.



Just Right for Travellers

Not the location we were expecting from the picture.  It is in a neighborhood with houses right next door.  Swords, where we stayed our last night,  is much closer to airport than Malahide 
 
I am 68 years old, traveling with a girlfriend and her daughter and was involved in a wreck days before our return.  I had the Zuni hotel in Kilkenny call Evergreen for me within 40 hours (48 required) of our reservation with Evergreen to see if we could change to next night or cancel.  Olive had no vacancies the next night, but while on the phone with us sent my charge thru for FULL amount. I have Capitol One who sends instant text. 

I have report of wreck, and notes from manager from Zuni Hotel trying to help. Olive was in the right, as we did not meet the deadline (barely). She however refused to even consider a lesser amount or any compromise on the charge. I did think she could have been a little nicer.  The first unkind and uncaring, of our situation,  person we met in all of Ireland.  It was clearly all about the money even though she  had plenty of notice to rent the room.

Breakfast was great!

We loved our stay here. It is so peaceful and quiet, ideal location. Olive was an amazing host, couldn't do enough! Lovely room, lovely breakfast and so handy to avail of free parking nib the castle- which is a 8 mins beautiful walk into the village. Thanks Olive! Colin and Naomi.

Peace and quiet full marks!

We stayed for two nights upon arriving in Ireland, choosing it because it was close to the airport.  We hit the jackpot!  The place is lovely, well decorated, and very clean.  The host is so lovely and friendly, and the breakfast is fabulous.  You can't go wrong here!

Fabulous!

Malahide is a great place to stay and easy travel on the Dart into Dublin. The village is on the coast and as plenty of bars and cafes plus the castle is an amazing flash back into history. The Evergreen B & B  is in a quiet part of the village and a fantastic place to stay. Great rooms, owners friendly and very helpful plus an amazing breakfast. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Coastal Dublin

This was the first B&B we ever stayed at on our first trip to Ireland in 2010. It was so nice to be able to come back and stay here again this September on the last 3 nights of our most recent trip.  Olive and Henry, it was so very nice to see you again and thanks for your wonderful hospitality and ideas of what & how to do things.  We had a wonderful breakfast each day and the room was so nice and cozy to come home to. There was plenty of parking on property.  Malahide is a great place to take the train into Dublin. There is a parking lot near the station that will cost you about a euro/hour.  You can buy your train ticket at the station. There is a great hop-on-hop-off bus tour in Dublin.  We did a tour of the Malahide Castle VERY good and then drove out to Howth to walk around town & lunch. Ran out of time but plenty of great golf near-by.  Finally, Olive has a great map to get you quickly to the Dublin Airport to turn in your car.

SO NICE TO BE ABLE TO STAY HERE ONCE MORE

Our 3 week visit to Ireland ended here at Evergreen. Just an amazing experience from arrival to departure. This little GEM is walking distance to Malahide Castle and easy access to surrounding areas by car. The close proximity to the airport is what drew our attention to Evergreen and that was just a blessing. Easy to get to and you avoid the congestion of Dublin. 
The room looked on to the back yard with a huge window to take in the well maintained gardens. Olive and Henry are just wonderful hosts and I can’t say enough about little Rebecca ( their 1 yr old granddaughter) she was just as delightful! We loved our delicious breakfast choices. We felt very welcomed and Olive was beyond generous with her suggestions and guidance and much needed maps for us to get as much out of our stay as possible. We did just that and we were very pleased with our choice to stay at evergreen! Yes we will return and highly recommend it to others!

Amazing people and excellent location!

We were in Ireland for 2 1/2 weeks, driving the countryside.  On our last night in country, we wanted to be near the Dublin airport, but not in Dublin.  The Evergreen B&B was a great choice, close, but still in a small community, with free parking.   Our Hostess, Olive, was very friendly and helpful with direction to a nearby gas station and the airport turn-in for the rental car.  The home was clean and comfortable.  Highly recommend using this B&B when flying in and out of Dublin.

Friendly and convenient

I visited with my mom and sister. The free parking was a big help. It is close enough to the airport tip be convenient but not so close that you hear airplanes or even traffic. The breakfast was really good. The staff was super helpful and friendly. When we went it was booked full but you couldn't even hear other guests. I suggest calling to book in advance as we saw a few people who were politely turned away as they were full. It turned out there was a concert and many places were full. They even tried to help people find another place to stay.
