Average carvery.  Massive portions, good place if you have a big appetite.  The mashed potato was very bad. The chicken was dry.  The gravy was good. Major mould issue in the ladies toilets, so a bad smell.  Staff were pleasant. Nice decor.

3.5 Stars - The food for breakfast was delicious.  I can't wait to try out my own version for our bed and breakfast.  The room was less than spectacular.  The carpet felt dirty on your feet and the bathroom was small, which we expected.  It would be great to have a luggage rack to set your suitcase on, but the floor is your only choice.  It was very unclear where the rooms were located, we had to guess and luckily it was the right one.  For the price the value was not really there, I would have expected it to be a little more cost effective.

The food was good. The order was completely messed up so we didn't really eat at the same time. Staff could do with name badges. The menu seems to ge the same for years.  It's always busy so maybe the don't think a revamp of the menu is necessary. The staff were pleasant. The toilets could do with being checked as the same rubbish was in there all night. So obviously never checked by staff. One toilet only working out of two. The seating is very comfortable. The whole establishment is lively.

Very good food chips so nice not too pricey I recommend the chicken wings great place for families and party events would definitely recommend the food I got was great I couldn’t fault it the wait time for the food wasn’t too bad at all great restaurant

Love this place e have been going for years from job nights out staying over to just travel to there for breakfast always fresh food staff are lovely highly recommend love here never forget joe gentleman

deplorable service by the YOUNGER staff in there , from the minute we went in they told us to be quite , we were singing to the songs at our table not making any trouble , and there was a young girl with blonde hair who was at us since we went in , we went to another staff member and she said there was nothing wrong and the one with the blonde hair went and got her manager to kick us out a younger staff accused us of screaming at the staff and another staff member said there was no problem but we were forced to leave.

We have been in Germaine's a number of times before Covid and it has always been very good. This visit was extremely disappointing. We booked a table for 7pm and were seated in the Atrium where the music was night club level of noise. I had to ask the waitress to wipe down the table for us as there was still food on it from the last diners, it obviously had not been sanitized either.  The table top rocked everytime we left our drinks down and when my husband lifted his chair to move closer to the table the seat came away from the legs and he caught his finger. After 20 minutes crowds started to arrive and a couple were left standing at a bar and were told that they had to wait for a table for two, our table. My husband had finished his food and I was still eating when a waitress came over and literally took the knife and fork out of my hands.  This was clearly to rush us out to seat the other couple. There was no social distancing between tables and there were too many people in a small enclosed area.  We were rushed out after half an hour.

Atrium Dining

Had dinner with my family on Friday evening 11 June. 2 adults, 2 kids. Horrifying experience. We were seated in the upstairs part which can only be described as a converted half finished garage roof.. the meals were tiny.. we had 4 burgers and 4 cokes. 84 euro bill. Very bad value, horrible environment. Avoid at all costs.

Good food & service. Pretty small menu but portions were reasonable enough. Place was clean, probably wouldnt go out of my way to visit especially but no problem popping in if i was ever passing through.

Monday Lunch

My cousin called over yesterday and we decided to head to Blessington lakes but on the way I said drive a bit further and we can get a pint and a sandwich. When we entered Germaines it was not the place I knew as a child. Firstly the staff were fantastic and very friendly. We ordered chicken wings and a pint for myself Gavin was driving so water for him. The wings are a 10/10 for me sauce was just right a bit spicy but not too saucy and Gav polished away 80% of them . I had ordered a main of chicken breast and chips and what came to me was amazing. A very large breast, chicken, bowl of mushrooms, bowl of peppers & onions, bowl of chips and both pepper and tomato sauces. As I was paying I overheard a customer booking a room and only Gav had another meeting we would have booked two rooms and travel around this beautiful part of the country. I highly recommend Germaines and if by chance you just want the old traditional bar just walk in the front door.
