I visit here for two days. Not sure why people leave negative reviews

This is comfortable b&b;
1.bed is comfortable
2.shower & bathroom nice.
3. Has TV.
4. Proprietor s are nice and friendly
5. It's close to knock shrine
6. Breakfast is nice.
7. Coffee and tea in room is nice.
8. It's open all day, can come and go as I please.

The only negative is the building is old. That doesn't take away from my five star rating. 

GREAT STAY AND FOOD! I stayed for three nights and had a great time.  The food was very healthy, nourishing and, above all, good tasting.  The owners were approachable,available,helpful and very understanding.  I would highly recommend this place of stay.

So it is a basic and if you’re a pilgrim that is fine . Bed was comfortable and clean room. Could do with decorating. Breakfast was basic it excellent. Staff very friendly. I recommend it if you are a pilgrim and all you want it sleep

Pilgrimage 

I would love to say this was a great stay but unfortunately the stay was not as advertised. It’s with a heavy heart that I write this review as the owners seemed to be unsettled which reflected on the stay. 
Unfortunately it was not as advertised. The family room was damp and the bathroom was small with extremely dated decor. The facilities were clean but cluttered. There was a kettle in the room which you couldn’t fill from the tap. The TV and WiFi worked as stated. One of reasons for picking this accommodation was the lovely reviews of the food and homely atmosphere.  Unfortunately there was no chef so breakfast was limited. The staff were nice but were not very chatty. This is a dated residence. I wish them luck fir the future. 

Disappointed 

Absolute disgrace . Visited with my mother in her 80s. The pictures on the web were nothing like this place . A prison cell is what I'd call it only a prison cell would have more luxury. Checked in by a young child . When I saw the room I asked the child for the manager . I explained this room is not suitable for an elderly lady . It's dirty poky and cold. The owner was rude didn't care as i have paid previous to arrival . She said I will be down this money as I could of rented to someone else . No lee way with her . Had to move to a different b@b divine mercy.  5 stars here lovely lady welcomed us made us tea and sandwiches and biscuits . Divine mercy is the place to stay . 5 star place and warm and cosy

Disgusting

Let me start with the positives. comfy bed, reasonable breakfast, clean towels. Near the shrine.
Dirty thought.
Had to use tissue to touch light switches near downstairs toilet.
Thick fluff under bed left bottom of shoes covered in fluff. 
Douvet with many stains
Shower with mould. 
Shower head fell off every time you touch it.
Shabby decor . Looked like children had done decorating.
Breakfast served by children who struggled to cope. 
When served it was reasonable. 
Dinning room dirty floor. 
Hate to think what the kitchen looks like
Owners never once asked if we had any problems.
Three people were permitted 2 pillows each. The rest told there were no more.
It may have been 3star in 2016 but now at best it's a very poor hostel.
With no stars.

I have just come back from a trip to Ireland and had booked Shrine View Guest House for 4 nights.  We arrived late at night and were shown to our room in the dark (up a steep stair case).  I had to ask for the lights to be turned on as I was with my 2 young children and elderly mother who were all struggling up the stairs in the dark with cases.  The rooms are really tired and the bathrooms are disgustingly dirty.  The bathroom window recess is covered in mould and there is no way I would use the shower.  
The bedroom door didn't lock from the inside so I wedged a suitcase against the door as I had my young son in the room with me.  There was a dirty mop bucket full of stale water left outside my room the duration of our stay.
We checked out the next morning as there is no way we could stay.  The owner was rude and said she wouldn't give me a refund €640 and that she thinks the rooms are fine.  TRUST me they are not.
I cannot believe the lovely photo's posted of this guest house as it is nothing like the place I stayed.
I cannot stress enough how disgusting this place is and would seriously advise against staying here.

Disgusting & Filthy

The rooms were dreadful, although bedding was clean the shower was awful, skirting boards in the room were a state. Chair in the room couldn’t be used, falling apart. Wiring dreadful. Floors weren’t cleaned. Couldn’t eat the food, bites taken out of apples in fruit bowl. No one available to discuss issues with. Ten year waiting on tables. I had an elderly person with me that had a disabilities, when booking I had discussed this with the owner and was assured that the rooms were easy access. This was not the case, the stairs were narrow and very steep.

Dreadful

It is nine months since I booked this guesthouse for a visit to Knock 8th and 9th August  2018, booked through booking.com which can be verified by the owner,or booking.com,  but I felt i had at this late stage to add my disappointment with the general condition of the premises. On the day I arrived at the guesthouse I expressed my disappointment to the lady checking me in,  and told her I couldn't stay as place so basic,  and could she refund me even 1 nights money. At this stage I hadn't even brought my luggage in from the car. She told me she couldn't refund anything but she recommended another b and b in knock.At this stage I was out of pocket for 2 nights b and b, tired from a long journey, and having to find myself further accommodation was very stressful and costly. Thankfully since then  I have been very lucky with getting lovely  accommodation in Knock, and Claremorris, The food may be lovely in Shrine view, didn't get to try it, and yes it is  so near the shrine, just a pity the premises is tired and rundown.
