An Dun

An Dun is centrally located on Inishmaan, the quietest of the three Aran Islands, with a sweeping view of the island and Galway Bay. It's surrounded by a spectacular system of stone fences and is directly adjacent to an abandoned stone house. The ancient fort Dun Chonchuir is directly across the road. The accommodations are both lovely and comfortable, the food ample and delicious. Guest have access to a variety of areas in the facility, including a sauna! Teresa and Patrick are very helpful and gracious hosts. It was a pleasure to stay there.

My 16 year old daughter and I stayed at this delightful B&B in Inis Meáin for 3 days.  It was just a wonderful experience, not only to be on this beautiful island but also the hospitality from hosts Teresa and Paraic, who were so kind and welcoming.  
We stayed in a really comfortable and cosy en suite twin room with excellent beds and the most stunning views of the harbour and Galway Bay. Breakfast was amazing - really good choice with excellent vegetarian option.  
We opted to stay for dinner each night which was the best decision!  Teresa is a fantastic cook, using very high quality and local ingredients  - every night was a delight!
I can highly recommend this place - we will most certainly be returning!


We stayed here for 7 nights.
Jenny and I would echo all the lovely things others have said. We would wish to emphasise Theresa and Padraig’s warmth, humour and home cooking. Breakfasts are truly amazing!  Supper also excellent.
The flight to the island was hysterically funny. The pilot who was sat next to a passenger asked her if she could try not messing with the pedals!  That doesn’t happen on 707 flights!
I swam most days in the clear sea along with a friendly bunch of women called The Blue Lips - such fun.
We walked for miles exploring, talked to some very interesting people at An Dun as well as a number of residents on this island. Following the mile and and a half walk back I used the steam shower which I really enjoyed. Got to have one at home now!

We stayed with Teresa last weekend, who greeted us on arrival and advised us on all things Inis Meain. We stayed in the Lighthouse room, which was bright and spacious. Later we had dinner in their premises, which was the highlight of my trip. Such a wonderful meal that genuinely made made day; the potatoes have ruined all others for me. We were served by the very helpful and friendly Colum who looked after us for the evening and again for breakfast. A massive thank you to Teresa and Colum for the wonderful hospitality.

I stayed only one night here but wish I had stayed longer. The room was spotlessly clean, with gorgeous views. The dinner was lovely, with excellent service. The breakfast was delicious, and very generous portions. The island is stunningly beautiful and so peaceful. Agus deis álainn an Ghaeilge a labhairt. I'm so glad I went, and I will definitely come back again.

You will struggle to find a more beautiful place to spend a few nights. Rooms were great. Food was superb. And Therese's warm welcome as always sets an Dun apart. Of course the setting on Inis Meáin is world class.  Here's wishing them a mighty season. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Stayed at an Dun for two nights back in June and we’ve been raving about it ever since.Teresa and padraig were the perfect hosts,the hospitality,the location,the food,(omg the fresh organic home grown food!),,the view ,the room I could go on and on ..
I’ve wanted to visit InisMeain ever since I seen Dara Beag o fatharta documentary on tv and to stay in his son and daughter-in-laws guesthouse was quite the honour for me and my partner and we couldn’t of been happier for the two nights we stayed on the island  than at An Dun.The island is so magical and AnDun is the perfect complement to the perfect trip.Thank you both for a wonderful stay and we

We stayed at An Dun for two nights while visiting Inis Meain. Teresa and Padraic were great hosts, they went above and beyond for us. Breakfast on both mornings was amazing. Will be back to stay in the future.

Peace and Bliss awaits you in An Dún. Teresa and Padraig are wonderful hosts. They are the dream team that make this hotel work. Beautiful rooms, stunning views, fresh linens and everything so clean. Breakfast choices are all as good as each other. Home baked breads and jams. Great coffee. Dinner is made fresh as you order and it’s local ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented. Teresa is so gentle spoken and kind. Padraig loves the chat. Both are very knowledgeable and helpful as to what to see and the best ways to get around. Several interesting megalithic  sights are nearby such as Dún Conchuir, Cathaoir Synge and the writers cottage. The only pub Teach Ósta is a small walk away. For peace and quiet, long walks, fresh living and wholesome food and a genuine welcome, I highly recommend An Dún.

An Dun is a little hidden treasure trove in the heart of this small island.  My first visit to both the island and this lovely guest house, i was very impressed by the warm welcome, superb locally sourced home made food, and the cleanliness of the the place.  A delightful stay, and I will definitely return next year.

An DUN was the perfect place to spend our first and one night visit to Inismaan....The hostess Teresa was so welcoming in her quiet gentle way....our twin room ( I was with my daughter) was spotlessly clean with lovely crisp white linen,   and everything we needed...the view from our window was of an unspoiled island that has stayed traditional and not allowed itself to be commercialised ....An Dun has an award winning restaurant and cafe and although we didn't eat there (we had eaten before we arrived) the other guests who did were highly  impressed.....the breakfast menu was impressive too...gourmet style....and was delicious.     Candles lighting outside at night to avail of the still night atmosphere...I could go on and on....AN DUN has the charm....WE WILL BE BACK TERESA!

Magical Stay at An Dun

Our family had a lovely stay in An Dún on the first trip we had away together in a long, long time. The rooms were spotless, and the food and service were all of a very high standard. Teresa was a fountain of knowledge about the island and my brother was able to test out her pristine banjo! We really enjoyed the tranquility of the island and we hope to return very soon.
