Myself and 13 friends had an amazing long weekend in Cullintra House. The farmhouse is full of character with Patricia’s paintings adorning all the walls. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfy. Patricia’s laid back attitude made for a relaxing few days. It was lovely to be able to sit in the conservatory as a group of an evening playing music and enjoying a drink. The house is very clean but don't expect the conservatory to be super clean as it has a log burner functioning all the time and it is an outdoor space. The setting of the farmhouse is amazing with lovely walks around the area. Patricia cooks a lovely breakfast but don’t expect it first thing in the morning. If you want an escape from the stresses of life then Patricia and Cullintra is the place for you. You will leave with some good memories after a truly unique experience. 

We visited Cullintra house to celebrate a birthday. We had an utterly brilliant time.
We were fortunate to stay with 12 others who were also going to the birthday so it’s totally fun to be able to enjoy this huge beautiful place with your friends. 

I was lucky enough to stay in the barn which is heated by a log burner. The house is in the country so once lights are out, it’s quiet and dark. I have never slept so well. The shower was great, warm, with good pressure. 

There are no kettles in the room but there is a beautiful conservatory with a piano and a galley kitchen which we used to play music, games and drink. It was stunning at night and again kept warm by a log burner

Patricia is unique (as we all are) and even though it is a b and b it is also her home. If you are looking for something slick and predictable don’t come here. You will be given the breakfast she wants to cooks for you (very well) and you will enjoy it. She will do it for you on her time. She cooked for 14 of us single handedly and it was delicious. She bakes home made bread for breakfast and it was absolutely knock out. 

Her home is decorated with all of her paintings and personally I loved her use of colour.  We had a brilliant time, thank you so much. We didn’t have dinner there but from the reviews it sounds yummy though I am not great at eating late so might give it a swerve. 

I can imagine why some people don’t like the hospitality that Patricia offers but I thought it was absolutely superb and hope to come back one day soon.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property, its perfect for getting away from the stresses of city life. The host, Patricia was amazing and very welcoming. Breakfast was cooked to perfection every morning. The house itself has a wonderful feel with many paintings created by the host. I would recommend this accommodation to those looking for a complete escape, with many wonderful walks around the countryside. The rooms were very comfortable and generous. There is also a wonderful place to gather outside. A converted outbuilding equipmented with a roaring fire and a piano. Which may i add was tuned to concert pitch.



Just a wonderful peaceful unique place with a superb host/chef in Patricia.  We stayed in the barn.  Upon entering I just fell in love with the accommodation.  A large beautifully decorated main room with so many of Patricia’s amazing paintings all around, comfy settees and wood burner in the corner.  A shower and toilet of the main room.  The bed was up the spiral staircase and we collapsed into it exhausted each night.  The walks around Patricia’s lane were superb - even got up and close to a fox.  Breakfasts were a perfect start to the day and we ate dinner with Patricia one night which was a fantastic delicious 3-course meal.  All made by Patricia herself.  Highly recommend her cooking!  The gardens around the property are peaceful and lovely to dander round with some gorgeous shrubs.  I could have stayed forever however we unfortunately had to leave however we will be back.  Just a wee touch of heaven here and great craic with Patricia

 Having visited Cullintra House many times in the past I found the setting for this lovely old Georgian house as magical as ever, and Patricia's welcome as warm as ever. There are wonderful walks on your doorstep, including trails from the house leading to some of the best views in Kilkenny and connecting  with the loop walk of Mount Brandon.  Cullintra is also a marvellous base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country. 

This place is ideal if you’re looking for a true country experience… of course there are some little things (it is isolated, in the main building there is only one bathroom for the three bedrooms, there ins’t a good Wi-Fi) but the place is stunning, as well ad Patricia’s cooking!
You will be spending some time inside a fairytale!

We enjoyed a truly delightful three-day excursion to Kilkenny with Patricia as our genial host in the extraordinary surroundings of Cullintra House. The house, the gardens and outbuildings are positively enchanting, a wonderfully-appointed and diligently-maintained reminder of a bygone time. Our party of three (including dog Penny) stayed in the Gallery Room, a magical haven from the cut and thrust of city living and a reminder that the perfect holiday doesn't have to involve air travel.
Patricia's meals are wonderful and we really loved the table d'hôte dining experience. I believe she offers a room-only option but for to fully immerse yourself in the delights of Cullintra House, Patricia's extended breakfasts and dinners are a must.
There are several beautiful trails from the house which have been marked out along the way for the walker's convenience.
Inistioge village, one of Ireland's hidden treasures, is a short drive and Thomastown is another delight just a short distance away.
We visited during the 'Pandemic' and Patricia was very diligent in wearing a visor, observing social distance and taking all necessary precautions to reassure both us and herself.
In short, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cullintra House and we're looking forward to a return visit very soon.

My family and I had a wonderful time in Cullintra House! It is on beautiful grounds with a lovely walk up to a 4,000 year old Cairn at the top of the mountain on Patricia’s farm. My kids loved having the freedom to roam the grounds. Patricia is an amazing cook and everything is homemade, including the bread and jam. The house is cute and the outside conservatory is such a fun place to hang out. The house has a nice garden too. This is not the place for you if you want all mod-cons and a power shower but it is a wonderfully relaxing, unique place with no Tv etc.

We spent 2 marvelous days in Patricia house. Each room has a personalized decoration, at night the dinner is simply delicious especially the crumble made by Patricia and the breakfast prepare with the products from the farm. Unforgettable and unique experience, our best B&B in Ireland.

We count ourselves very lucky to have chanced upon Cullintra House. In need of shelter at very short notice in early February Patricia graciously went out of her way to accommodate us in a style to which we are not accustomed. The self-contained apartment was very comfortable, the wood-fired stove making a good companion whilst we relaxed and read up on the local history of which there is much from Bronze Age forts, Norman military outposts and  famine era cottages. There is a walk from the farm up Cullintra Hill which is not to be missed. Mine was a fog bound adventure leading to the bronze age burial mound at the summit. 
Our food was amazing featuring Patricia’s farm produce including a never-to-be forgotten blue steak from the Cullintra herd. If you have a chance to sample Patricia’s vanilla and grapefruit marmalade, take it! We’re currently considering a trip back to Kilkenny for this alone!

Unique, peaceful Nirvana

Wonderful walks and wonderful hospitality.

We brought our daughter with us to Cullintra House on our visit to Ireland (she was studying abroad in Dublin for the semester and needed a little R&R).  We stayed for two nights.  Our daughter said she would have loved to stay longer so she could spend more time reading in the big armchair upstairs!  The house was peaceful, and the acres of attached countryside were stunning and magical.   Its a 250 year old farmhouse and they raise cattle so it isn't for those who need pristine conditions. The home is fascinating, and the owner's company and food were delightful.  (Bring your own alcohol, I believe).  The owner is also an artist and sells her lovely art pieces-including landscapes, so you can take a piece of the Irish country side, painted by a real Irish artist home with you!  We felt very lucky to have had the honor of the experience of being guests at Cullintra House. We hope to visit again!

Location, Food, Accommodation, Ambience: A Joyous Experience

Wonderful respite from urban life for the family!

this was our 3rd visit to Patricia in Cullintra House - but our first journey outside Dublin since the Lockdown in March 2020
Patricia cooks the meals and although last time we were with her in 'normal' times she managed to serve dinner to all of us- her guests- with social spacing- the setting is like a dinner party so we felt we must dress for the occasion. It felt good since we had not gone out since February. We've friends from previous times with Patricia and exchanged addresses with people we met this time
Yes it is in a remote part of Kilkenny so you need transport- but there are lovely walks in the area too. We drove to nearby towns and felt safe- masks being worn when entering shops.
Things are different in our country because of Coved 19 but Patricia did a brilliant job- serving breakfast and making sure we were all safe- no crowded early breakfasts here- tell her when you are coming and she gave a time for the meal without rushing people- it could be midday before the day started.
The house is near M9 - we found it easily- but you are driving along Kilkenny boreens!  Locals are polite when they see you driving pulling in to let you past- for a city driver this was scarier than the motorways.
We've stayed in the house beforehand but this time chose to stay in the Barn- which is self contained. although there isn't tea/coffee in the rooms, there is a beautiful conservatory with a kitchen where it is possible to prepare for picnics in the local area- the river barrow is not too far away with walks along the river
This is a place to relax and still be near to lovely Kilkenny towns too once you can drive there.
