Some staff could do with retraining. When checking out we were never asked how our stay went. So never got the chance to show the photo of stained bed linen only seen at 1am. Stained carpet in the room. Saving grace was the breakfast and one very nice sever. We won't be back.

Very disappointed

Welcoming obliging staff from receptionist, to bar staff, breakfast staff and the housekeeping team. We are  well travelled and without a  doubt we experienced  the most  naturally  friendly, helpful staff we have ever had the pleasure to encounter  in a hotel and, there was no exception.  The Hotel was very busy but there was a smile on every  staff face.  It was a delightful  visit.   And, the breakfast was delicious.

Ashdown Park Hotel well worth a visit, if you just want to feel good.

I had high hopes for this hotel.

Price for 2 people is the same as 1 person (via their website). Having completed the booking, should you have the audacity to decide in the future you'd like to have a friend share the room you'll be charged an additional 60 Euro per night. (50 if no breakfast).

This is just odd.  I fully understand that the hotel must know who is in the building from a safety perspective, however I could have just added on my friend at the time of booking and wouldn't have been charged any extra. 

So in future I'll do that when booking hotels regardless of whether a friend is staying all or zero nights, thus giving the hotel a false number of guests. There is just no logic on the part of APH.

Think before you complete your booking

All the hype for the food been farm to fork we were looking forward to the stay and eating there . What a complete let down it was, the food was really bad . The steak was tough struggle to cut it with the steak knife and the pork belly was over cooked to the point of it been inedible not to mention the mash. The three course meal took over three and a half hours

Everything about this hotel is excellent-. We had a great stay again last week and we’re once again most impressed with  great reception-/super rooms /superb food and really great service from all staff. Leisure favourite are also excellent.DO visit and enjoy a great experience!! 

Everything is GREAT !!

After a family recommendation and them speaking so highly of the experience they previously had at the hotel, I was very excited for my stay. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The hotel was short staffed, and the staff were evidently under pressure. However, they tried to keep a positive attitude. I'm a coeliac and went to order the fish and chip for dinner after checking the menu earlier in the day. However, I was left confused at dinner when the menu stated the fish and chip were not gluten-free. I questioned the manager on shift, who too appeared confused and couldn't confirm which menu was correct as they were both labelled differently.He left the table and came back and told me some available options. However, when my dinner came out, I noticed pasta on my plate. My dinner had been crossed. The situation was poorly handled. The next morning, I spoke with the manager, I felt he took the situation seriously. However, the follow-up after our conversation was poor. Positives are a short walking distance to the town, with lots of amenities and restaurants. The spa was one of the best experiences I've had, Robyn was so friendly. Ballymoney Beach is less than a 10 minute drive to enjoy a nice walk. 

Great location, not a GF Friendly hotel

We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. The swimming pool and massage salon very accessible, even at short notice.
Food was top notch, and the setting in the upstairs restaurant was a lovely atmosphere for our late evening dinner.
Breakfast is operated very professionally, hardly any waiting around for service.
Plenty of space in the carpark if you are driving.

Our room was lovely, with nice tables, chairs, a double bed and view of a courtyard.
Only drawbacks was I found it too warm - not a bad complaint for mid winter, so I just turned the radiator off, also the tv wasn't working in that section of the hotel.
Jacuzzi was out of order on that day, but sauna's were excellent, and enjoyed the pool.
Overall, I'd recommend, and would go there again.

When we arrived at the hotel for our dinner reservation there was a yukky smell, then we got the lift up to the 2nd floor where The Rowan restaurant was as we were early we waited til they opened. We were very much impressed by the level of professionalism and customer service of the floor staff as the wanted to confirm our dinner orders. The food was very flavoursome, delicious and with utmost presentation skills. One little criticism was they  were a bit slow serving our drinks, but was fine. The bill was quite pricey but it was worth it, plus it’s Christmas!!  I would recommend them to friends and family.

Spent a lovely weekend here in this hotel. Check in was great and the room was nice. Not the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on but apart from that the rest was fine. 
The food in the bar was incredible as was our meal in the Rowan restaurant. Complements to all the chefs involved. Breakfast was really nice too, plenty of choice. 
There was no entertainment Friday night but a couple played Saturday night and they were excellent. 
The only problem with bar both nights were the hotel policy of kids running around even after 11 o’clock. There were even kids in the bar after 12. I know young couples need a break too but…
Pool is small but there’s a fine gym if you’re feeling energetic. 
It’s my first time to stay in a hotel at Christmas and I must say it was a great atmosphere. 
Last but certainly not least are the wonderful friendly staff. They definitely deserve a lot of credit.

Lovely hotel for a weekend.

Good standard all round, room slightly smaller than expected, but very clean and well thought out.  Friendly staff, good feeling of service and trying to help the customer mind set.  Only stayed one night, 150+ people dinner and I have the say I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was, usually large dinners you dont expect the food to be top notch, but it was really good; hot, fresh, fast etc.  Its a hotel in the countryside in a small town, but they punch obove their weight in what they are delivering, the team running this business have pride in what the are doing and it shows in the small things like decor, the way food is presented on the plats (at a banquet as well which is hard because its service at scale!) as well as the important stuff like clean, crips sheets, room that is properly cleaned, a bar that is rapid service and experienced staff etc.  I heard the pool and spa facilities are excellent too, so i will be returning to experience more but for now lets just say Ashdown Park is an impressive offering for corporates looking to book executive events, the romatic couple break and families, its a good standard run by people who know what they are doing.  Really solid place.
