I highly recommend staying at Sunrise Lodge. Peader was a great host, the room was extremely clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The location had a great view and was perfect to walk from town after a few pints at night.

Joan and Peadar Cunningham are the helpful, accommodating hosts of the Sunrise. We stayed 3 days, and the breakfasts have good variety and are very filling. Joan is an excellent baker, and we enjoyed her scones greatly. We stayed in the attic room, which is very quiet. The room is simple, with little adornment, and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Peadar called and arranged a taxi on our last day. Pleasant stay.

Sunrise B&B was very pleasant, clean and close to both Salt Hill and Galway.  Breakfast was excellent.  I would stay here again.  My hosts were very helpful.  If you want to do a lot of walking on your trip, this is well located to everything, including a beautiful walk by the sea.

So I am going to let you know that this is by far one of the best banbs in the area. Room excellent. Food top class. Staff were friendly but not intrusive. Accommodating when I wanted to check in early with out prior arrangements. 9/10 👍

Lovely bed and breakfast near to Galway centre, short walk or taxi ride away. Good size room and a proper single bed for the third person, as I went with my two sisters. Peadar and Joan, the owners, were lovely and made our stay very pleasant. The breakfast was made to order and was great. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone, thank you. 

A beautiful B&B situated in Salthill, which is only a 15-20 min walk from Galway city. Close to 3 beaches, a walk on the Salthill Promenade is relaxing and easy to do. 
A comfortable and clean place to stay with a lovely fresh breakfast daily - including multiple choices of how you would like your eggs, cereals, yogurt, fruit, toast and scones. Your hosts Peadar and Joan are the loveliest of people and you will always find a pinch of Irish humour as you enjoy your breakfast. The power showers are amazing in the mornings. Make sure you try the poached eggs for breakfast 😋
I loved staying at Sunrise Lodge, the bed was comfortable and the house is very quiet considering it is close to a main road. I managed to walk at least 9km each day for the 4 nights I stayed. It was a pleasure to be so comfortable and have such an easy walk to all that I wanted to see. If you’re health is about average you definitely don’t need a car, just make sure you pack a jacket and umbrella in case it rains. 

Not sure what you can do around town?.....
Visit the National Aquarium at Salthill (€13 all day - get a stamp on your hand on the way out so you can return later) which has two floors of amazing sea creatures from the Atlantic Ocean and also a small exhibit of fish from around the world. The coffee shop beside the aquarium is also highly recommended - try their Rhubarb Bakewell Tart if they have it.
O’Connors Pub (opens at 7:30pm) is easy to find in the Main Street in Salthill, this is where Ed Sheeran filmed the last half of his music video for Galway Girl. It’s pretty cool, there are loads of knickknacks to see all over the pub, including the ceiling. Go check it out!
Don’t go past The Galleon Restaurant for lunch or dinner, they seriously make some gorgeous fresh food.
There are also a couple of supermarkets around if you get stuck for something quick to eat.

In Galway....
Stroll through Galway city and it’s gorgeous canals around the River Corrib. You will have no shortage of choices for lunches and dinners in Galway city. If you’re after traditional fish and chips, don’t miss McDonaghs on Quay Street. They have a “choose what you want” menu, so you can add sides if you like. Great for those who don’t like mushy peas... and the fish AND the chips are REAL, not the frozen ones.
For traditional Irish music don’t go past the pubs along the main streets of Galway city. Tig Coili is a great pub to visit for the early session at 6pm. They also have another later session on as well. Most pubs around the city will have a trad session, it’s always good to pop in and see.
There are loads of tourist shops and Aran Sweater shops to browse in Galway, it’s pretty hard to resist the lovely knitwear. 
The Galway City Museum is an interesting place to visit. With 3 floors and an extensive range of exhibits it’s easy to spend an hour or two looking around. And it’s free! 

If you’re heading to Galway, Sunrise Lodge a great place to make some special memories. It’s relatively easy to explore since the city is so small and very close to Salthill, but if you’re not already familiar with the area, I recommend downloading google maps onto your phone and you’ll have no trouble finding the craic! 😊👌🏻



We loved Sunrise Lodge. Warm, gracious, and friendly hosts, a terrific location, and superb accommodations.It is immaculately clean and well kept and breakfast was wonderful. This was our sixth visit to Galway and some of our past accommodations were decent but Sunrise surpassed them all. Our window looked out towards the Bay. The location is perfect, as you are at the beginning of the promenade along Galway Bay (Salthill) yet only a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the town center. You can park your car and walk everywhere, or if necessary,take the five minute bus ride to the town center. A great B&B!

Reasonable size clean and tidy room. Quiet too.
Great shower, plenty of pressure. 
Comfortable bed.
Wifi was a bit variable on the 2nd floor corner room, an extender would help. Strength dropped off as users increased. Was always good in the guest lounge (nice relaxing room).
Good breakfast, nothing's a bother to the hosts.
Good parking on property.
Salt hill is a few minutes away and Galway centre less than 15min walk.
Hosts were very helpful and easy to talk too.

Can't really fault the place.


Sunrise lodge is located opposite Galway Bay. Located in a culvert off the main road it is close to salthill restaurants & walking distance (2kms) from the city. 
Beautifully decorated in the breakfast room & lounge. Breakfast is a feast. Our room was quiet, comfortable & well appointed. A lovely sanctuary for 3 nights. 

Travelling through Ireland from Australia. Very welcoming, nice clean rooms, great service, good recommendations for food and places to visit in both Salthill and Galway , would recommend this b&b as a place to stay.
