Desota House Bed and Breakfast

We felt quite at home here ;) This was a superb choice. Desota House was just perfect for us. We stayed in room #3 which was off to the parking lot behind the house so it was quiet and we did not have to climb any stairs, which we were grateful for. We could not hear any traffic from the street. The room and bathroom were very nice. We loved that they had transformed old sewing machine tables into normal tables for two people, both in our room and in the breakfast room. At breakfast, they had a buffet and you could additionally choose one item off of a menu. The scrambled eggs with smoked salmon were extraordinary. We like to think that it was Connemara salmon because of the close distance. The porridge with fruit was an absolute killer too. It was obvious that there was a lot of thought and care in delivering a personal, special experience to all of their guests. The walking distance to the city centre is approximately 20-25 minutes. You can walk to an Aldi too, but that's about 1 kilometre away. There is a sea food restaurant close by, Hooked, that we frequented twice and ate the best haddock and monkfish there. Highly recommended. Would go back anytime even though it was packed at all times. It was clear to us that the owners and staff run Desota House with much pride, love and enthusiasm. They were the very definition of Irish hospitality. We would like to come back one day.
