Excellent stay, great attention to detail and our host just couldn’t do enough for us.

We were treated like lord and lady in this wonderful country estate by the very warm and welcoming host. The house is full of beautiful furniture and decorations. We had access to a sitting room where the fireplace kept the room warm and comfortable, and we could relax for as long as we liked. The dining room was the site of the breakfasts which were amazing—delicious full Irish breakfasts with plenty of fresh fruits. Our only regret was not staying longer.

Hartley House B&B is a great place to stay in Carrick on Shannon. Clean and comfortable with a hearty breakfast. You can have a good yarn with owner Kate and she can tell you everything about the local area.

Hartley House offers a serene country setting off the Shannon river with reasonably easy town access. The house and grounds are charming and nicely restored with period furnishings. The proprietress--Kate--is great and a treasure herself. She is a wonderful host, chef, and baker. A fine Irish experience!

The sky was grey. Storm clouds were gathering and thunder rumbled away in the distance like an afterthought. Suddenly the clouds parted and an individual sunbeam exploded as though shot from a gun. The only thing it hit was Hartley House, an oasis in a desert of tranquility.Or alternatively it was great and the service was world class! Cheers Cate.

We had a lovely time at the beautiful Hartley House and Kate was the most accommodating host we could have imagined. We will be back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the gorgeous and cosy Hartley House B&B in Carrick-on-Shannon for one night while passing through from Dublin on my way to a wedding in County Sligo. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the remarkable host, Kate. Her hospitality is truly exceptional - nothing was too much trouble.Kate's warm personality and engaging conversation made my stay feel like a home away from home, and this radiated into the charm of Hartley House. She went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comforable, providing excellent recommendations for local attractions and dining. The room was beautifully decorated, spotless and comfortable.Carrick-on-Shannon itself, a short journey from Hartley House, is a stunning town rich in character. The picturesque surroundings show that the town is a hidden gem and made me regret my stay was so short. I will definitely be returning to explore more of this town over a longer stay, and of course, to enjoy Kate's unparalleled hospitality once again.Highly recommend Hartley House to anyone visiting the area!

Surpassed all expectations

This is exactly what I picture when I think of a B & B in Ireland. The house was from the 1700’s and it was  filled with antiques befitting a house that beautiful. Kate could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. She even gave my husband tips on how to master the round-about. The room was so quaint & comfortable. After dinner she set us up with tea & biscuits in front of the fire. So relaxing! Breakfast was delicious as well. Great stop for these Yanks!!!!

Recently stayed here with 2 of my family members and not one bad thing to say. From the time we arrived till the time we left, we were very well looked after. The owners are very welcoming and staying here is great value for money.
Breakfast is fab.

A Real Gem 

Stayed here for a hen party 10 of us.  Martin and Ruth went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.  All rooms are spacious and had ensuite facilities.  Breakfast in the morning was great just what we needed to get each day going.  The hen was even surprised with a complimentary bottle of champagne.  A lovely extra touch.  Martin provided a great taxi service to and from the town.  Both Martin and Ruth advised us of the local area and where to go.  Would highly recommend this place to stay.  Few minute drive from town or ten minute walk.  Overall a really enjoyable stay.  Nothing was a bother for the hosts.  Would definetley return.  Dont be put off by any negative reviews.
