Excellent stay and a very friendly host. Would definitely stay again. Prices are very competitive for the area also! 10/10

Owner Eileen was a genuine caring host. Flexible with breakfast options and times. Left out coffee and sandwich etc for later/return. Service was above & beyond.

Eileen was absolutely wonderful could not do enough for us, excellent cook and the soda bread was epic. Room was tidy and clean very homely friendly atmosphere would definitely recommend and we will stay again in the near future.

I was allowed check in when it suited me which was handy. Great place to stay

This place is a little Limerick gem and the proprietress, Eileen, couldn't do enough during our 5 night stay to give us a warm Irish welcome and leave us with an authentic experience of her homeland. The beautiful old country house is quaint and quirky, filled with ornaments, pictures and and array of memorabilia from Eileen's past and travels, sparking many interesting conversations. We enjoyed a joke and a giggle and Eileen has a wealth of information to share. Most of all, the breakfasts were delicious - a wide choice, nothing was too much trouble - locally sourced produce, freshly laid eggs, Griddle bread straight from the pan in minutes and jams made from fruit picked in Eileen's relative's garden - who could want more?! Our trip to Limerick was made all the better for staying at the Orchard - thank-you, Eileen.

We were welcomed by Eileen to this beautifully maintained old farm house and treated like we were family. She was always available to help and have the chat!

Our experience here really delivered on what is great about the Irish b&b experience, which, in my opinion is becoming harder to find. There is an absolute respect for your own time and space but there is also the chat and the craic, if you want that. And if you do want it, there's lots of chat and laughs to be had. 

Eileen would appear to be very well known and respected locally. She is also very informed about the various goings on and activities about the place. On Eileens recommendation, we hired a bike from a shop in a nearby village ~6km away, they delivered and collected the bike to and from the b&b.

On arrival there was (a loaf) of homemade brownbread and jam(also homemade), fresh fruit(again, home grown including grapes from their polytunnel - imagine, Irish grown grapes - that was a first for me!) / tea / coffee etc. prepared for us. Each day all of this was replenished for breakfast! Breakfast also included a choice of cereals, Each day, leaving for the greenway, we were stuffed to the gills!
The place is a 12-15 minute walk to the centre of Newcastle west. That said, in the evening Eileen dropped us into the village, with a run down of the local places to eat/drink) to a (very good)local restaurant and suggested places for us to go and where might be good, taking on board our preferences and budget.

If cycling the greenway is your thing(as it was ours), we found the place ideally located for access to it - a 5 minute cycle away is all it was and almost entirely off main roads to get there too.

Eileen even allowed us to leave the bikes in her shed in case it rained during the night.

As regards the room, it was 15-17 sq. metres in size(that includes the ensuite) compromising a (comfortable) double bed, 2 bedside lockers and lamps, a wardrobe, arm chair, and coffee table. A TV was mounted on the wall. It was spotlessly clean. WiFi was available if required. For us, it worked great.

Budget-wise it was ~20% cheaper than other accommodation nearby, and when we got there, we found the location more suitable for our requirements than some of the other places also(which we passed along the way).

Overall, I would say this place is something of a gem(in terms of the place and the experience of it) & I very much recommend staying here. I would have no reservations in staying there again. 
Given its location, I'd suggest it as particularly good as a hub if I was planning on doing the direction Rathkeale or direction Abbeyfeale(Kerry) leg of the Limerick greenway again.

Our hostess was helpful and imaginative and made our stay interesting.  A good base from which to explore this part of Co Limerick

Great place to stay. I was in front so it was noisy from the road out front. I didn’t like that but other wise it was lovely

A little gem in the Emerald Isle

What a great find for a b&b!

We were welcomed by Eileen who showed us to our rooms. Although dated, the rooms were very comfortable and did exactly what we wanted, a bed for the night.
Eileen's breakfasts are legendary, Unlimited toast (homemade bread), home made preserves, you decide on the quantity of cooked breakfast and whether to have goose, duck or hens eggs, fresh made griddle cakes and enough tea to fill  a swimming pool.
Eileen is so helpful and welcoming, she even made bookings for us at a nearby pub to reserve a table.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Orchard'

Home from home

It is quite some time since my last stay in a B&B, and you forget the etiquette of a B&B stay.  Instead of a corporate face, what you receive from staying in the Orchard B&B is friendly and warm Irish hospitality.  My daughter and I stayed with Eileen over the past weekend, and our experience was great.  Eileen made sure we felt welcome, with this approach it meant that other guests staying at the accommodation were also open and welcome.  This is not a 5-star hotel stay, instead what you get is a flavor of what hospitality should be, which was warm, welcoming and genuine.  The rooms are not of 2018 décor, instead they are old fashioned, clean, comfortable and this has a certain charm.  I would highly recommend a stay in the Orchard.

Five Star Irish Hospitality at its best

A fantastic B & B, Eileen is the perfect hostess and the breakfast as as good as a 5 star hotel. Even choice of chicken or duck eggs as well as home made bread and 6 home made jams.. Offered cake and tea in the evening when we returned from dinner, at a place she recommended after asking the type of place we wanted. Room comfortable and offered everything and more than any hotel. Went on to a four star hotel for the rest of our stay and it was no better than the orchard.

Fantastic place to stay.

Eileen was a great hostess and the house was really nice and very homely . Eileen had a really tasty fruit  cake and tea when we arrived really delicious.We were going to a wedding and Eileen drove us to the hotel which was really great so we could park up and have no worries . A lovely place to stay

Eileen makes a great effort to make sure your stay is perfect! She recommends pubs, bars, tourist attractions, anything you ask. She has a huge variety of delicacies for breakfast, both sweet and savoury, such as yoghurt, breads, scones and jams, which are all fresh as she makes them herself! There is also the classic bacon and egg for those who prefer, which she also cooks herself. She sat with us the first day (family of 4, my father, mother, myself and my sister) and explained with a map the best places to go and things to do and see according to what we were interested in. What was also super was that she made us cakes of all sorts daily and shared recipes with us which were specific to my sisters dietary requirements (no gluten or lactose or soya). The house was clean, warm and cosy and tea/ coffee could be made whenever desired. There was nothing to complain about other than the WiFi signal being a bit weak some of the time in our part of the house. We felt so sad we were leaving as we felt totally looked after and catered for and enjoyed Eileen and her husbands company greatly! Location was great too, not too for from many tourist spots. Totally recommended!

Felt at home immediately! Super stay!

Eileen is the perfect hostess! She made us tea and we had fresh cake when we arrived.  The room was clean and comfortable.  Good internet.  Eileen took our breakfast order and time we wanted to eat.  We had made to order lovely omelettes with cheese and cherry tomatoes, toast, breads, fruits, yogurts, cereals, juice, and tea or coffee. Plenty to choose from. There were also 5 homemade jams - all delicious and made from local produce. Eileen made us very welcome and made sure we were well fed and well loooked after.  She gave us directions and recommendations for dinner and relective vests to wear on the main road as we chose to walk into town (20 mins).

Eilene, the hostess was just wonderful. We arrived early in the afternoon after visiting a castle ruins in the pouring rain. We were soaking wet and she immediately offered to make us some warm tea and have some cake. Be sure to ask about her award winning Guinness cake! Everything about the stay was wonderful, the rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. Eilene, made a wonderful breakfast and was a wealth of knowledge on the local area. Showing her schoolteacher background she helped us in basic Gaelic and translated our names and other information so that we could better understand. She was a wonderful hostess and made you feel like you were at home or staying with good friends. All in all a delightful stay for the 3 of us. We will definitely stay again when we are back in the area.

Touring Southwest Ireland

The host, Ilene, was lovely and could not have been more welcoming and friendly. She offered anything I wanted for breakfast...which included fresh-made little "griddle breads"...along with a lesson on making them, as well as French-press coffee made on the spot, orange juice, fresh fruit, multiple breads, and home-made jams. Inn was a short distance from Newcastle West, right next to a cattle farm...I could even hear cows"mooing" as I pulled into my parking spot. Ilene offered advice on places to go and direction before I left. I hope I can stay here again someday.
