I stayed in the Anchorage Guest House in November Michael is a gentleman very kind and helpful the room was very comfortable and clean the breakfast was very good it is in a good location in Waterford City near to the centre of the city I would recommend this guest house to anyone visiting Waterford City

Michael the host was very friendly and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable.  Waterforsd city is very nuce and this guest house is located in the centre so it is perfect

The Anchorage Guest House is located on the Quays in Waterford, 2 minutes from the bus and train stations, so the location is ideal. The staff are very friendly, the breakfasts are great and the room rate makes it excellent value. 

My husband and i spent the past 12 days traveling through Ireland. Waterford was one of our stops. We showed up without having booked accommodations, but knew from researching online that there were a variety of places to stay. A staffer (very helpful) at the tourist info center directed us to the Anchorage. We walked over, rang the bell and were greeted by Michael Moroney. He was warm, personal and welcomed us right in. 

The room we had featured a double bed and a single with private bath. The room and bathroom were immaculate. It was a basic and simple room, perfect for what we wanted. The only downside to the room was that the hallway outside smelled of cigarettes. However, there was no trace of it in our room.

The Anchorage is not set up for free WiFi, although Michael did help us with that. 

Michael provided breakfast which was excellent. A few people we met while in Waterford were a bit offish when we told them where we were staying. As far as my husband and I are concerned we had a great stay at the Anchorage.

If you're on a budget this is a great place to stay. It's close to public transport (bus station across the road) and its close to the city centre. 

Beds were comfortable and staff were friendly and very obliging. 

The only downside was the noise from the nearby pub but other than this it was a good stay.

Would definitely stay here again.

I recently stayed a night here while visiting my husband in the hospital. 
I found the owner/manager friendly, polite and very helpful. 
The room was a family room, very reasonably  priced. I slept like a log, feeling comfortable and safe, a priority for me when traveling alone. 
The room was lovely and warm, coming in from a very cold night out. I made tea which was most welcome. The room was spotlessly clean as were the bed linen and the en suite bathroom. The power shower was a great way of waking up in the morning! 
The guesthouse has been referred  to as basic but I found it welcoming, more than merely basic and a safe haven when traveling alone. 
My only concern  was that a table for the kettle would be a welcome addition and more sockets also. Saying that it was really great value for money and those concerns are really just suggestions and not a criticism!

Recent stay at Anchorage Guest House

Great location , and very friendly staff

Great place to stay, ideal location, very friendly staff, excellent value.

Stayed here with a few friends last weekend 03 September 2021, 
I found the rooms to be clean and spacious, 
The owner was friendly and available if needed .
The en-suite bathroom was spotless with a great shower .
Beds were comfy . Although a small table and chairs in the room would of been convenient.  
Breakfast was available on site at a small charge which was lovely . 
Great budget Bed&Breakfast overlooking the river and mountains so views were lovely .
Would definitely say again .

Great little guesthouse

Very basic and small , ok for price but could have found better value for money. Bed very uncomfortable makes a creek every little move and sound out side is awful very annoying, near some pub that's very loud !! Could hear the person next door snoring as if they were in my room with me sound proof is a lot be be designed. 


Basic but ok

Booked through booking.com as a last minute stay. Should have filtered through the reviews more carefully! On arrival, rang the intercom and waited for a response. Eventually the owner met us, friendly bloke. Given keys etc and went to room. On our way up, we noticed the state of the threadbare carpets on the stairs and the general grubby feeling. Broken divan beds on the stairs that were probably once white, all stained up and possibly waiting to be thrown out. Our room was basic. Clean sheets, clean bathroom but generally just grubby. Felt more like a hostel with some strange guests floating about. We should have left then, but thought we’d stick it out! God knows why! The room had a strange smell, like stale smoke. Plug sockets didn’t work, neither did the hairdryer, pillows were thin as was the bedding. Neither of us slept very well, probably due to feeling dirty and environment around us. We were told breakfast was an extra €5 each but to be completely honest, we couldn’t face eating here and couldn’t wait to leave!

Not for the faint hearted!

The management of the establishment was not on site to register us. He has signs on the door saying ring the buzzer or call a number.  We arrived at 2:55pm and could not gain access either by buzzer or by phone.  We tried half hour later.  In his response on booking,com he said he waited all day for our arrival. He never asked for time of arrival in the booking. Only communication prior to arrival was in early spring asking if there was wifi.  We had just completed the second half of the Waterford Greenway and were panicked and forced to find alternate arrangements and this establishment billed for one night as he stated we cancelled.  The establishment in our mind is not reputable.
