Walkers Nest

Throughly enjoyed our stay. The whole place is spotless, comfortable and very welcoming. The breakfast was top notch and nothing was too much trouble for the excellent hosts, Geraldine and Albert. We hope to return sometime soon to enjoy more of the lovely surrounding area of Carlingford and beyond.

This was our first time visiting Ireland and we couldn't of stayed in a better place. 

We travelled to Ireland for a wedding and stayed for 4 nights in the beginning of September in this fantastic family run B&B. 

The room was spacious and comfy and the shower was more than adequate and better than we thought it would be. 

There was a good selection and several different options for breakfast. We had the full Irish breakfast and I can't brag it up enough. By far the best breakfast for quality and quantity we've ever had. It was almost an American sized breakfast which sets you up for the day ahead. What made breakfast even better was the scenery from the dinning room.. A truly stunning setting and the the the first of two special mentions to Albert.. for his jokes and his funny trivial questions. 

The wedding reception was in Omeath roughly 10 miles away from the walkers nest. We drove to the reception and left the car there on the Friday night. Albert offered us a lift to pick the car up from the reception venue as we were leaving Sunday mid morning and had another night out planned for the Saturday. 
Albert took us for the car and we took it back to the walkers nest. We were heading back to the wedding reception venue for our Saturday night so we were going to call a taxi as we didn't want to ask Albert to take us back there as taking us for the car was more than helping us out, Albert wouldn't allow us to call a taxi and insisted on taking us back to Omeath. Albert would not take any money from us as much as I tried, smiled and told me to buy my girlfriend a drink knowing full well I was going to do that anyway. 

Geraldine and Albert and the family that we met during our stay were all genuine lovely people who couldn't do enough for us. 

A fantastic stay in the stunning Irish countryside. We loved our stay and we hope to return and and when we do we will definitely want to stay here.

The owner caught me as I was trying to get a response from the next-door i.e. wrong property. Theirs is a modern house with all facilities -- good strong shower, etc -- and a good lounge/dining room for B+B visitors. I was made most welcome, and was helped enormously with a health issue. An excellent breakfast with home-made bread/toast, a wide choice of cooked, and very good coffee.

The B+B is about 2k or 30 mins walk up an incline (not a hill) from the town which is well-provided with restos, pubs and shops, including a chemist. And if you're too tired/lazy/whatever to walk back, there's a local taxi. Good walks of various lengths and challenges surround, too, call in to the Tourist Office in Carlingford for info and advice. Buses run to Newry and Dundalk.

“Val and I can't say enough about how well we were treated in this beautiful, pet friendly B&B. We wish we had brought our yellow Lab Zoe along with us! Geraldine, her daughter and daughter-in-law were very friendly and so accommodating as well we were entertained by Albert. When you walk in the beautiful sunroom for your first morning breakfast and see how well each table is so elegantly laid out and then the fantastic Irish breakfast arrives your day can't get much better! There is not one detail overlooked! Thank you again Geraldine for the great time we had in your beautiful home. We truly enjoyed meeting you and your family. Val and Robb, British Columbia, Canada....I might add it takes a lot to please me (Robb)”

Excellent run B&B very friendly and rooms are very high standard. Couldn't do enough for us. Definitely worth a visit. Albert was a great host(even though Geraldine was away) always had a joke or two up his sleeve. Michelle thanks for the extra early morning coffees.

Although it’s about 1.5 miles from the village Albert the host is fantastic offering to drop you into the centre in his personal car.  On the way he takes time to point out interesting locations including eateries and bars etc.  He also provides taxis numbers to get you back in the wee hours and not expensive.  Our room was very comfortable, the breakfast excellent and the craic mighty.  Albert runs a good ship with the help of his family.  He knows how to gauge people and interact with them on their level.  All in all my wife and me enjoyed two great nights at Alberts Walkers Nest and certainly will revisit and recommend to friends and family.

What a beautiful place to stay ,lovely couple with a warm welcome .our room was perfect ,all the little touches are just wonderful and welcoming ,they have everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay.these people really do put their heart and soul into their bnb .spotlessly clean,comfortable bed ,fantastic breakfast,nothing was too much trouble . Oh and the homemade brown bread was fab .will definitely stay again if we are out that way .

Geraldine and Albert make this a great place to stay. Albert always has a joke ready in the morning to start the day. The room was extremly clean and the bed really comfortable. We had our dog with us who was treated as a welcome guest every bit as much as we were. My wife is coeliac and they even had gluten free bread and sausages for her breakfast. I cannot recommend the Walkers Nest strongly enough other than to say that we will definitly be back.
