Was here with my family at the weekend. First impressions are good as the outside and lobby are quite nice.

We were delayed getting checked in as the computer system was down.

Our room was very small although the double bed was comfy. The bathroom was quite shabby and dated, more like what you’d expect in an old guest house. The bedroom wall had a tea or coffee spillage stain dried into the wall so a bit of cleaning and painting wouldn’t go amiss.

We ate dinner there in the evening. The food was adequate although my pork belly wasn’t great. It looked more boiled than roasted with no crackling and the gratin potatoes were just baby potatoes sliced up with a minimum of cheese present.

The breakfast was very disorganised. There wasn’t enough of the various items such as fried eggs which kept running out, we had to go to the bar to get tea or coffee as the staff didn’t come to the table. Some of the food was cold even though there were overhead heaters. Observing the staff, I got the impression that they were either untrained or badly trained as they made no effort to be proactive or anticipate that some food items were running low or gone without being told. 

I’d normally point out a problem to staff if I saw one but as the system was so disorganised I could have spent my whole mealtime discussing it.

This is a better way of getting an establishment to improve as I assume they’ll read it. I appreciate we’re experiencing a pandemic but there are many hotels in the same boat who are much better than this.

It’s ok

I feel as though the Clonakilty hotel is getting bad reviews based on things that are out of its control such as outdated interior etc. I'm sure the pandemic has not made it easy for hotels to remain open at all nevermind complete full renovations. We had a lovely stay here and the staff were the best I have experienced in a long time. The room was very clean and warm.  I would definitely stay here again based on the warm welcome we received and the location is perfect. 

Great staff

Absolutely mankey dirty, from the very heavy stains on the carpet and the walls, bathroom filthy ground in dirt on the tiles and around the wash basin, the mattresses on the bed were like rubber, the room had a constant dirty smell although we left the windows open when we were out during the day, our room was never serviced in our 3 day stay, the staff were lovely and polite at all times, i never felt the need to write a review on any accommodation before but people need to know, DO NOT STAY HERE!!

ABSOLUTE DIVE

My husband and I stayed here one night this past week. It was booked for us as part of a cycling trip (which overall was fabulous!) so I didn’t read the reviews ahead of time like I usually do! 
Big mistake!  The room was tiny which I would totally overlook except for the appalling state of the bathroom.  After running the tap for ages only got lukewarm water…never hot for a shower. The bath tile was moldy and the tub itself had exposed parts which were rusted.  The hairdryer which was attached to the wall was literally taped up with masking tape and electrical tape.  I didn’t dare use it!  As we walked around town that evening we saw so many charming looking small hotels.  The breakfast was just barely ok compared to what we experienced in all of of other hotels.  I will say the breakfast servers were very nice and helpful.  So kudos to them!  We have told our tour operator to look elsewhere next time and I heartily recommend that you do as well! 

Not recommended

Myself & my husband stayed 3 nights in this hotel in sept '21. I can honestly say that in all my life i have NEVER experienced anything like it.
●VERY  dated hotel, could do with a massive revamp. Bathroom tiles chipped and moulded. Vent in bathroom mouldy and was filthy.
● No hot plates in dining room for hot food,
 very nice staff member had to heat up plates in the toaster for us.
● Very limited amount of food available for breakfasts in the self-service area. Each morning we had to ask staff member for some milk, cereal, orange juice, cutlery etc.. chef unsure as to what we meant when we said we wanted our eggs well done and flipped over - after numerous attempts of toing and froing we just gave up in the end. Following morning a different chef was on - we had no problem with him..
● No phone to ring reception to tell them that our hair dryer that was stuck together with TAPE was not working - had to go down to reception and ask for a proper hairdryer.
● Had only one bedside lamp had to ask for another..
● Water in tap boiling hot at times when turned on at first..
● Had to request another key card was only given one..
● No car park available for parking..
● Complained to manager Ian about our issues. He thanked us for bringing it all to his attention and took note of our concerns ?? He later had a complimentary bottle of wine left in our room for us.!
● In our opinion the hotel is very poorly managed and are also charging crazy prices for a hotel that is clearly clearly not up to standard.

OUR HOLIDAY FROM HELL

We just stayed one night, although staff were friendly the room was not so great....window clearly had been open for some time ( cobwebs and butterflies in curtains,the beds were lumpy, hairdryer was broken, no shower curtain lights only worked when they felt like it....overall not great 
Was ok to put head down but not recommended for longer stay

Well......

When we arrived, i was greeted by friendly staff member.  Another member of staff was  on computer having difficulty trying to book someone in as under alot of pressure. Room was ok, it needed a good clean and the decor needs alot of work. Staff where more then helpful while under alot of pressure and they where very pleasant (i dont know how as they seem to be running the hotel by themselves) and they where quite good under the  circumstances they where in. 

The dinning room come bar was not hoovered  after the evening meal, as i looked at the carpets ( which are worn) the dirt was still there next morning. I cant express that the staff where friendly helpful under the circumstances.

Really i think the HOUSEKEEPING AND DECOR REALLY REALLY NEED ALOT TO BE DESIRE.

Not happy

Stayed here for 3 nights. On arrival found badly stained towel in bathroom and 2 portions of butter at side of wardrobe, room had obviously not be cleaned. Moved to different room, here found stained carpet and chair and cobwebs behind curtains, obviously there for a while. Housekeeping seemed to be non existing, mirrors smudged and full of finger prints, in rooms and lift. Dining room didn't appear to be cleaned also as Window sill beside where we dined was dirty and had crumbs on it and it was still the same on our departure. Dust in a lot of places. Staff very nice and food was good. Didn't feel very safe here at all as hygiene was at a minimal. Sanitisation station beside lift never worked while we were there. Asked to speak to Manager on a few occasions but was unable to do so but just  3 hours after we checked out he could make contact by email !!!! apologising for all the issues I had, i would have preferred to have met in person.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone, it was dirty and dated and I'm not talking about daily dust, it appears to have been there for a while. During our stay I never seen any housekeeping taking place anywhere in this hotel.  At this moment in time when hygiene is so important, this hotel fell well short

Terrible stay

Went here on our last staycation on short notice. And it was a nice decent 3 star hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and always helped us out. The food was great lovely chowder fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding  although the portions were too big and breakfast was very nice too. The rooms are alright but could use some quality of life improvements. Hotel itself has some old decor yet is very clean and accommodating to everyone.

Good last minute getaway

Really enjoyed our recent stay at the clonakilty hotel.From the moment we entered the hotel we found the atmosphere to be very friendly.The staff in the hotel were excellent,the food was most enjoyable.The hotel was spotless and very covid friendly.Great location to see west cork will certainly be
