We were staying in a hotel down the road and asked for a recommendation and the receptionist suggested the riverside when we arrived the staff were pleasant and very helpful loved the well presented waiters and waitresses my partner looked at the menu and I seen the face lol hes not used to fancy food and I asked the waitress for a recommendation for something less fancy and she immediately asked my partner what it was he wanted to eat and they made him the nicest roast beef dinner he has ever had definitely well worth a visit x

we booked the riverside b&b in cootehill for a 3 night midweek stay in early august 2018 , i had previously visited cootehill 33 yrs before when fishing a competition  and had longed to return to fish the Annealee river ever since . we arrived around 3,30pm on a tuesday afternoon to be greeted by our host Una with a welcome cup of tea and a scone . we chatted for a while and Una had great knowledge of the fishing fraternity , which after so many years of being host to anglers meant she knew many well known fishermen and the aces to fish . we were shown our room - an on suite double with an additional single bed in it at the top of the first floor , the room was large enough and the bed very comfortable , the temptation to 'have a little siesta'  was there after a 4&1/2 drive up from tipperary , but the fish were calling and had to be answered too . On Unas advice we headed into cootehill and to the town park and river Dromore  - she told us to visit the 'fairy forest trail' while we were there - we did and it was wonderful - i spent a few hours happily fishing away while my wife read a book . we returned to the b& b about 8 pm -went to or room to wash and freshen up intending to head out for something to eat - Una recommended a local hotel just a short walk from the house where we could get a meal and something to drink . the next morning we breakfasted like kings -- a wonderful "full irish" breakfast ,with lots of tea and toast  - we had a good nights sleep the previous night and were ready for the day ahead . we spent the next hour or so talking with Una  while relaxing after breakfast - and so it went for the 3 night of our stay -- Una is a wonderful hostess and the house is warm and welcoming - it may be a little 'old fashioned' for some peoples taste -but it is a family home as well as a business and almost 120 yrs old , it has a charm and character that modern hotels just lack - you will not find a nicer or more knowledgeable hostess than Una . and as an added bonus for us anglers --there is a belting little stretch of the river Annalee right outside the farmhouse door -- we will be back again as soon as we can -- the caven people are known for their friendliness and hospitality and in Una and riverside b&b  they have one of the very best around .

An old fashioned farmhouse b&b in beautiful surroundings. Any lack of modern amenities is more than made up for by the warmth and kindness of the hostess, Una. The breakfast is awesome and Una went out of her way to provide sandwiches, advice regarding local attractions and to generally make us feel at home.

Homely farmhouse accommodation

We needed an overnight stop over to break up a long journey, before an early ferry the next day. We were travelling with a small child and our dogs.  We booked this place knowing it was a little dated and old fashioned but it was advertised as very clean and dog friendly. I can live with dated decor if the place is clean and comfortable and given the pandemic, cleaning should be priority for any establishment. 

Unfortunately it was neither dog friendly or clean. We arrived after 5 hours in the car to be told by the owner  that the dogs would have to sleep outside. We asked why it was advertised as dog friendly and she simply said she was allergic so they could stay, but only outdoors. She then pointed to an outhouse / barn and said they could sleep there but we’re not to come inside the house. 

The place was filthy - thick of dust, cobwebs and dead flies. Carpets hadn’t seen a Hoover in years and there was a pre stained mat around the toilet. The bedding was full of pubes and appeared to have been slept in and creepy religious pictures on the walls. It was bank holiday weekend so we were unable to find another place to stay at such short notice. We left, and had to book an overnight ferry instead. It was a total  waste of time and money. 

This place is the only BnB with vacancies on a busy bank holiday and there’s a reason for that. The lady is very nice and welcoming, but the place is in need of a proper declutter and deep clean and is also being falsely advertised as dog friendly. I wouldn’t let my dogs stay there for fear of what they might catch.

While Una was a nice host this was a horrible experience from start to finish, we avoided the showers too cramped , we avoided breakfast incase of food poisioning, we will never ever return

Never ever  again

We stayed here recently as we had a wedding in the errigal country house hotel. Firstly I will start by saying the host was a kind welcoming and lovely woman whom offered to even drop us to the wedding and make us tea on arrival! However everything else that followed was a complete disappointment with a charge of 70 euro for our room. The decor was so old and I felt I had done some time traveling to the 1800's. The room was spooky !! The shower didn't even work ! No mini shampoos or shower gels or anything , but as long as I had hot water I didn't care... couldn't even get that! The breakfast was awful, the yoghurts out of date and things certainly needed cleaning ! The table had glasses on it from the previous people whom had had their breakfast. The light above had some old brown snowflake decorations handing from it ... its April! I felt under interrogation at breakfast with the stares of a man and woman in a black and white photo ! I'm sure they were lovely people in their day, but too spooky for me ! :( sorry but probably the worst bnb Iv stayed in.


Stayed for a wedding 

Stayed here after attending a wedding at the Errigal House Hotel. Stayed in the single room for €35 which was a good price still awful - you couldn't pay me to stay here! There were cobwebs on the windows and bedding had a mouldy, musty feel and small to it. No en suite and no power sockets (!?) Decor needs updating. Breakfast was oily and cluttered. It was a cross between Fawlty Towers and Father Ted. Would not recommend.
