We decided to rent this flat because it was cheaper than hotel rooms in the area, and it is so close to the airport (around 10 minutes).

The flat was actually very well-equipped and clean. We were with another couple, so it was actually handy to have a living room so we could sort out our luggage in preparation for the return journey home and spend the evening together chatting, as we didn't feel like going out due to the fact that we had to get up early the next morning.

It is in the central square so we had restaurants, pubs and  a supermarket  literally on our doorstep, and there are teabags and coffee if you want to have a hot drink.  

So if you are a family or two couples, I would really recommend it.

Good if you are in a group

A mix match patchework of bright carpets was our first impression, it shows it's a mend and make do old fashioned place. Musty smell, chipped plates and freezer compartment of fridge didn't freeze. No towel change in 3 days even though woman said she'd bring more next day...
Front living rooms and bedrooms suffer from traffic noise and cold due to old single glazing. Late night revellers shouting and laughing could be heard from front bedroom usually between 1am and 4am.
Not much to the town but a good centre point to other areas and Knock Airport.
If you want somewhere cheap and clean then this will do the job.

Cheap, old fashioned, noisy...

We stayed here for one night in June 2014.  They only take cash.  We knew they had a washer and were sorely in need of washing our clothes.  It didn't work and the women who took our cash didn't know how it worked either.  Charlestown was small and kind of seedy.  People starred at us quite a bit and kind of gave us the small town look that suggests "You ain't from around here are ya "I'm obviously thinking true because we have  all of our teeth and have had American dental work and we're not alcoholics.  There wasn't much here except for about 6 bars and a small grocery store.  It was very noisy being at a busy intersection.  The owners are trying to sell the building.  They want to rent out rooms but it appears don't want to do the work to take care of the place.  It also smelled very musty.

Needs some work

Booked for 6 nights, and left after 4 nights. Musty strange smell (dog?). No Wifi, unacceptable eating area in the Kitchen, uncomfortable furniture. Decent bed, good bathroom heater. No washer, and no laundromat in town.
