We loved this B&B. Our room was large and comfortable, and the views over the river were fantastic. Excellent sunset opportunities. The breakfast was wonderful. Private parking and a nice yard. The only negative was that it is about 2 miles from town (and restaurants) - but that made it very peaceful.

Great stop near Athlone

The breakfast was lovely and the room was clean and warm. The staff were friendly and welcoming and had lots of local knowledge. We had a short stay in Athlone and this B&B was lovely. Would recommend. 

Comfortable night stay

We recently had a wedding in Athlone and stayed at the Shannonside B&B. From once we arrived until we left the quality of the service was top class. The host was brilliant and could not do enough for us. The room we stayed in was modern and equipped with everything you could need. I would highly recommend for anyone planning a night in the area.

A lovely place to stay with a great host

I could not have been more delighted with my short visit to Athlone and stay at Shannonside Bed & Breakfast! What a wonderful ensuite bedroom I had, with a spa-like bathroom including a jacuzzi tub and roomy walk-in shower! I was thrilled when I opened the  bedroom curtains in the morning to see swans swimming by on the Shannon River. Though this B&B is not in the city center, it is just minutes outside on a quiet country drive.

We stayed here for one night and were not disappointed. The welcome was so warming, rooms were spotless,breakfast was freshly cooked and so tasty. The B&B has beautiful views of the river Shannon and is so quiet at night. It’s only a couple of minutes drive from the lively town of Athlone. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Every thing was just perfect

Shannonside deserves its excellent reputation.  The owners are on site, and are welcoming and kind.  They make you feel "at home" and provide a beautiful breakfast.  The rooms are perfect - comfortable bed, great shower, etc.  Everything you need for a great stay.  Highly recommended.

A gem

Room comfortable and clean.  Disappointed as this was our last stay and their was no full Irish cooked breakfast.  However, eggs were cooked to order any way you liked and there was plenty to eat.  It was a 38 minute walk to town for a good paced walker which was too far for one of our party who has health problems so we had to use the car.  All in all a nice place to stay.

In the country

In the middle of nature, dominating the Shannon, our B&B Home very smiling and friendly from Helen. The room is spacious, well equipped. The only small hiccup, the lack of electrical socket in the bathroom. Very comfortable bed, very quiet environment, we had a great night. The great breakfast, we had picked a ham omelette, cheese and vegetables and 2 eggs on the plate. The products were fresh and of excellent quality. A very good stage.

A very nice B&B

Well what can we say. The owner was a first class host and could not have been more helpful.  
We had to change the occupancy due to family illness. Not a problem for owner.
Had to change check in times twice due to son doing well at athletics event. Not a problem for the owner.
Upon arrival greeted like a family member. 
Room was fantastic.  Very clean. On suite was spotless with plenty of towels.
Although it's of the beaten track there is a large visible sign post on the road .
Breakfast was continental but plentiful.  Coffee in perculator was strong and tasty.
Would reccomend this place without a doubt.
In fact if our son takes part in next years athletics we will stay there if there is vacancies 

Amazing place

Have just spent a night in Athlone at a terrific spot to stay!! Gorgeous quiet location, super friendly and helpful host and an absolutely delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend booking a night or two at Shannonside B&B.
