I REALLY wanted to love this place. The grounds are very pretty and the spacious upper floor room I was in was very spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was also pretty tasty. Awesome location on the edge of the Kajeng Rice Fields and 5 minutes to the main road. There are plenty of alternative meal options within walking distance. Inviting private pool at the rear of the property. Steady WiFi.

 However, the cons equalled the pros. 

The staff, while lovely, are extremely young and very inexperienced. It was also very difficult to communicate with them... My shower had ZERO water pressure and took a good 15 minutes to heat up. This also rendered the bath useless...The room does not have a fridge... The aircon was struggling to stay cool.

Having a last minute cruise change of plans in Singapore forced us to reevaluate our holiday and advance our stay in Bali by about 3 weeks. So, with a few hours notice before flights, we researched where to stay in Ubud from a choice of about 50 places
Criteria.not on a busy street
Not far from town center or activities,

Well, we spent 5 days and exhausted ourselves of the things to do in that area, but it was still hard to leave.
The pool area was so tranquil and the air was so still.
6 bungalows on a raised platform in what used to be rice fields, with nothing pretentious. Cost , approx $60 cdn. per day. Very tranquil, lovely young people looking after the place.spent 5 days there 
The Ubud place still requires a walk up a path if 3-5 minutes and the path is shared with scooters. But that is part of the ambience. They meet you at the bottom and put your luggage on scooters to bring them up. And, there are tons of these places much further up this dead end path. This is the second closest. We did walk  much further up the path, 2 minutes away , a fabulous little lunch spot with 6 seats, or you can just buy a drink and keep walking. 4 minutes away was this gorgeous yoga studio on 2 levels in sort of a rainforest environment. My wife used it 3 days.Apparently all of Ubud is like this once you leave the main drag. 
Breakfasts were fabulous, and unlike so many other places, once you told them what you like or don’t like, they looked after it day after day.

I have a well respected driver (Bali Airport Transfer)we found on trip advisor whom I have engaged for airport pickup, for myself , my son, two others as well as a private car for an afternoon tour. The island has lousy road connections, only one highway just at airport junction so everything you will do will be in bad traffic zig zag across and up and down the island.


3 minutes and a million miles away from town

The surrounding rice fields, views, and the private cabin rooms are wonderful, a retreat from the chaotic areas of Ubud and Bali. The wood cabins/rooms are beautifully designed and make you feel happy to be in the special place you are.  Privacy and quiet are easy to find here.  The Monkey Bar at the front of the hotel is a great place for peaceful, relaxing music, good food (breakfast was superb), great views and sunsets, refreshing, good drinks , and Bintang beer.   I want to come back!

Peace and serenity at Nur Guest House and Monkey Bar

We are very happy to have stayed at Nur Guest House in Ubud. Situated up a short hill in Ubud, we were "off the beaten path" enough to escape the crowds and noise of the main street through town, but within easy walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and shops. We loved the pool and the privacy of our teak interior cabin. We also loved the landscaping and the nearby view of small rice paddies being harvested by local farmers. The host Nick and his staff were wonderful and very helpful in arranging transportation. We loved the food and ate at their intimate and very reasonably priced restaurant for many of our meals. 
Nick is a worldly and warm person who was a pleasure to speak with. He kindly extended our stay because our plans were loose and we enjoyed Nur Guest House that much.

Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Ubud, yet a very centrally located little oasis.

We stayed in Ubud for a few days and enjoyed the nice swimming pool and close by rice field of the guest house (including frog sounds at night:)). The bedroom was a bit dark (a lot of dark wood and little lighting), a bit more lighting would make a big difference for me personally. The fruit at breakfast unfortunately tasted of onions, probably someone cut onions with the same knife before. It can happen, but shouldn't occur regularly. All in all it was a nice place with a friendly host. 

Nice place close by rice fields in Ubud 

The grounds are amazing, the people working there are so friendly and fun to talk with, breakfast is INCREDIBLE, and the location is perfect.  Super clean and safe - important to me as I was traveling solo.
I ate several times at the Monkey Cafe they have along the path and all the food was so good, especially nasi goreng.
I have stayed before and after the pandemic, both times were fabulous, and I can hardly wait to go back again!

Best place in Ubud!

Nice guest house, where our very nicely decorated bungalow was surrounded by a rice field and a banana field. Our bungalow was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The pool was very nice and the staff very friendly. The location is also a strong point since it allows to be quiet but a few minutes walk from the center. Attention, to access the guest house you have to walk 6/7 minutes from the main street by entering behind a small wall that leads into a really small narrow alley where scooters, tourists, locals...but you will not be disappointed when you arrive!!!

Very pleasant stay

We stayed in this curious and local hotel for five nights.Although we were not accommodated from the beginning in the villa we had reserved but in a spacious room, the stay was handled by Nick its excellent owner.It is located between rice paddies and the pool is a perfect place to disconnect.Close to the center where you can visit different places and its environment, but at the same time a very quiet place to rest.Breakfasts are served in very idyllic Balinese cottages.The same hotel offers you different tours that Nick will take you with much love for a more beautiful place.Thank you for this very special stay!

A very special place.

I loved everything about my 6 nights here. It’s quiet and rural but just a short stroll from the main street in Ubud. Great accommodation, huge bed, spacious bathroom and good pool. Nick and the team were fabulous and really cared about making my stay more enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back here. It is a small hotel with individual bungalows so never overflowing with other guests.

Beautiful place to stay in Ubud

Spacious, comfortable and clean room and bathroom (and I even had a terrace). Nick and his team are super nice and helped me to rent a good scooter for my time in Bali. Great communication too! The swimming pool was perfect to relax in after a day of exploring. I loved the location: near the center of Ubud but I loved that the street is only accessible by scooter and not by car. The lack of cars driving by plus the lovely location in the rice fields, makes it the perfect quiet oasis in Ubud. I will definitely stay again if I return to Ubud!
