I don't know how long ago the other reviws were submitted and I stayed in a Tripel delux bungalow but my impression is completly different.
The once great resort is falling down. In the room there were cold salt water showers and ,broken mosquito screens. The plaster on the walls was barely hanging on and moved to the touch. no internet The main reception area wasn't much better broken tiles on the floor,old uneven pool tabel with ripped felt. The boat shed contained several water craft that appeared to have been there unused for some time.
A walk over the hill brought you to the over reef bungalows a good walk from reception and one I would not look foreward to in the dark.
The only saving grace in my book was the staff. They couldn't do enough for you . They kept the grounds looking great and did there best to maintain the rooms and reception that were clean and tidy given there condition. In fact if it were not for the staff we would not have stayed the second night.. .

Should remain a secret

The prettiest, most unique place I've ever stayed in by far. We stayed for two nights and got our own little house. It was on stilts standing right in the middle of the water! A picturesque little boardwalk leads you to the house. The reef is just as amazing. You can jump in the water right from your room and already see tropical fish.

I been a couple of weeks in Secret Island Resort,
I had a good time there,nice place to Relax and feel the peace,also doing daily kayaking trips!

We spent a total of 2 nights in Secret Island. It's a little bit of a pirate site or something, I don't know how to say it! We definitely thought it was super cool! We were very friendly and received very lovingly and kindly care for us. It's just great! The house on the slope overlooking the sea has its own charm. It's old, but it's just great. We took a lot of pictures. It's just something very special with its own radiance. The food was also flawless and I don't think there's anything to expose except maybe the shower could have been more comfortable.

Something very special

The most extraordinary stay of my life. We had an exceptional week in the bungalow above the reefs. The sea, always the sea around us, the wind, the calm ... we where able to go snorkeling directly from the dock and see a lot of fish. The bungalow is a little bit funky and may not be suitable for everyone, but we love this lifestyle. The staff is very welcoming and Peter our host is a very endearing man with whom we will kept contact ... all in all an unforgettable expererience!

The most extraordinary stay of my Life !

The warm hosts and delightful  staff provide a relaxing getaway in a simple but spacious and comfy bungalow. The food is delicious. The private boat snorkeling tour cost us 400 Rp for a half day and was  excellent. The snorkeling at the bungalows wasn't. The water there was turbid and fish diversity pretty low, but not too bad. Ok for one day. Government (all day) electricity is in the plans so it might be there when you read this ;-).

Lovely getaway

We spent 2 fantastic days and nights enjoying Peter and family's hospitality on Gili Gede.  It's a beautiful old world hotel in a unique location. We stayed in the rooms on stilts over the sea and the monsoon was amazing. Loved every minute of it.

An old school gem

Getting there: I traveled from Bali, we got a direct ferry that picked us up from our hotel in Legian at 8 am, took us to the ferry. The ferry provided us sea sickness tablets and departed at 9 am. Ferries name : Gili Getaway - this was a very easy process. The Ferry trip was 1 1/2 hrs. Aprox AUD $60 each 

We were greeted at Kokomo wharf - were a gentleman helped us with our luggage and arrange for a transfer on a small boat to Secret Island resort. We were offered cold towels and brought ourselves a drink while we waited 1/2 hr.

The transfer was a short calm scenic boat ride (10 min) - the gentleman helped us off with our bags to the resort gate entrance.

The reception is in the main big house. 
This is also the dining area, pool table, music, games, books, lounges, chairs, tablesj. 

There was no wifi while I was there, you can pop back to Kokomo for good wifi if needed by boat.

Electricity is only on in the evening till 5am in the main and rooms. There is no air conditioning.

Breakfast was included, it was clean and fresh.

Staff have limited English, make sure you have your travels plans booked befor you arrive as they can not help you with this and there is limited wifi available.

I had dinner there too, the most delicious teriyaki chicken I have ever tasted in the main hall- the lights were dimly lit with beautiful music in the back ground finished with a large bing tang.  

Accomodation:  I stayed with my 3 yr old daughter in the over water bungalow. It contained a bench seat, hammock, on the front deck over looking the water. Inside had a shower, toilet, bed with fly net and drawers. Everything is very basic - but I found you don’t need much when there. No wifi and electricity is only in the evenings and early morning.

The grounds have little nooks where you can sit peacefully, read, draw with out a worry in the world.

This place is great if you want to get away from it all for awhile.

It’s quite old world, everything is eclectic and ornate and basic.

I recommend it for families with kids above 5 yrs, for energetic older couples (there are stairs) adventure seekers. I felt it was a step up from camping in Bali. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to others. 

A little adventure tuckedaway

We came here for 4 nights. Peter's proper welcome that we haven't seen during our stay. This resort has certainly had better days, today it is very good for playing the taps. Nice staff, breakfast is tasty but good. We were having dinners at the hotel, the kitchen is good. The snorkeling outlet offered is really top (a lot of fish and beautiful corals). Peter offers a day of kayaking from 3 nights ago. Unfortunately, on the day we wanted to do it, no staff was there to help us put the kayak in the water. If the activity was paid, I think they could help us. For a small Pel Warangi Restaurant we would have very good cooked dishes at a very good price.

Very good for playing robins

We will not bore the reader by telling the full story of our misadventures: at Peeter and Titin tourist which would be too long, and useless! Indeed, we could have spent a long time on unflavored food, only a few days and just a few nights, and we would have been justly disgusted, which would have allowed us to despise its guests in every possible and imaginable way.
