Bukit Senggigi Hotel

I stayed there on the night of the 6 August 7.0 Lombok earthquake. Old, not too well maintained but roomy bungalows with good facilities like a nice swimming pool and restaurant and dead cheap. Few minutes walking from Senggigi central. Ladies at the front desk not to good in English but with patience you manage or they will ask someone else. Staff performance after the quake was superb. I'd been in some restaurant in central Senggigi when the quake came and luckily all escaped unharmed (one woman with small wounds in a foot since she stept into to glass). All was dark since power was cut. Walking back to Bukit I saw it in full light since they had an own generator - even internet worked and I could inform family and friends even before the thing was on the news in Europe! Bukit (means literally 'hill' in Bahasa) is on a hill which gave safety during the Tsunami warning. Hotel took up over a 100 guests of a low lying luxury resort who had to wait with us on the hill until the warning was withdrawn. Next morning they produced despite all problems a decent breakfast. Helped me and others finding transport to airport and ferry. Just very well done.
