Hotel Minahasa

Hotel Minahasa is a small boutique hotel and has a unique Old Dutch character and distinguishes itself from other hotels in the surrounding neighbourhood. The people are very friendly and warm and they speak well English. If you need an airport transfer, please let them know in advance. They will charge you a small amount and the driver is very kind and dedicated, much more convenient than an airport cab, trust me ;-) It may need some renovation in some rooms, however from a price perspective this is by far the best deal you can get. Breakfast is typically Indonesian with a western twist, lovely and very tasty. Their nasi goreng is the best you can get, you won’t get it like this anywhere else in Indonesia. For me; this hotel is absolutely my home, far away from home... The hotel is located in the middle of the city, a 7 minute walk to the shopping centers of Manado (a taxi takes much longer, but sometimes better... rather than walking in the heat). Restaurants are in the near neigbourhood, across the street; Green Garden for example. Manado is known for its food, so apart from the traditional Minahasa specialties, you also have a great offering in Thai food, Sushi, Korean BBQ and obviously Western food; for a great steak with french fries, visit Fourpoints with a great view on Manado Tua as well. The hotel works with a local tourguide (Mr. Eddy Sunardi) who can take you on a private tour to Lembeh and/or Bunaken Island for diving / snorkeling. Eddie speaks extremely well English and some Dutch. We’ve also had a great experience in white water rafting, if you are looking for some adventure, this is truly it! This guy knows the area and goes the extra mile! The Minahasa covers everything that Indonesia has to offer; sun, sea, vulcanos, mountains, great food and above all a memorable holiday to cherish for the rest of your life.
