Villa Rumah Manis

I will start by saying that we booked out the entire villa, not just one of the 5 rooms which is also possible. I have booked many villas in Indonesia and usually when I book a private villa I like it to be just that, private. One thing to note is that there are two staff members which live in the villa, they are there as staff for you and act as caretakers, but it was slightly confronting to be chilling all day with two other people not part of your group. That said, we got used to this very quickly and actually liked having them around. It did not stop us from having night swims or drinks around the pool, actually it didn't change a thing, I guess it is just something to keep in mind if you choose to book the whole complex. There were a number of issues which happened in our 6 days stay stay was fixed quickly due to having staff there. Bed broke, fixed in a few hours, power went out, fixed again, pool went green, fixed in 24 hours. Items of value were moved when it rained and we were out and there was no issues with leaving anything you want around. very honest, friendly and reliable staff. There was a miscommunication around cleaning of rooms and this was not a daily occurrence unless you asked, which I will take as my own fault. I was used to this being the norm when booking a private villa. This was a non issue and again, I should have said something. The location is good but you must get a bike (which is the norm with Gili regardless). Also there was confusion when we arrived where the villa was, and none of the people at the port knew, We found it in the end but maybe meeting people at the boat would alleviate this. Google maps doesn't seem to pin point the location very well and actually located our villa in Lombok, so suggest pre-saving a map screen shot before you leave, or asking to be met when your boat arrives All in all, great villa, great pool, nice breakfast and friendly and helpful staff!
