I read Trip adviser on the day we left and was surprised about the bad ratings. Obviously they renewed the rooms. They are plain but clean and nice. The Chef is not so good in speaking english but the staff. They are always willed to help. Breakfast was really good and easy and they gave us some mosquito protection for our room. 
I would come again!

Good place for travellers

We stayed here as it's all we could afford. It was fine apart from there being a problem with the water pretty much every day,  halfway through a shower. We're pretty easy going people so we didn't mind the place. Wifi isn't fantastic but it's an island and there are power cuts. Nothing terrible. It was all a little soured on the last night as my boyfriends flip flops were stolen from outside our room. He's now walking around shoeless. Just be careful with your shoes. 

Decent for the price

Due to late arrival in Gili, we haven't got time to search for other homestays. A very friendly and nice guy lead us to quite remotely located homestay. The bed was ok, but the toilet wasn't. It leaked and had seen better days. 
We spent just one night in tamu tamu and then moved to another homestay. 

Also the breakfast was promised but we didn't get one, because staff went to party and had hangover the next day. 

There are far better options on gili t in same price range. 

Friendly but lazy...

Firstly this is a very honest review. 
On arrival at Tamu Tamu we were created by a bunch of seemingly friendly young men, neither of which seemed in charge. We were told that the room had been double booked (something we had been warned about by previous reviews) and so we were given a room in their 'partner hostel' next door known as Dua Nina. Thus, our review is for the room at this hotel.

Pros: Good water pressure. Breakfast was nice and good quality. Staff at dua Nina were friendly but again no one person seemed to be in charge. The bed was comfortable. The doors were locked by padlock which I felt kept our stuff pretty safe. Location was good, close to the beach.

Cons: Bed sheets were marked, not dirty but marked. Bathroom was very dirty, unkempt and poorly put together, the sink almost fell off the stand at one point. There was no toilet roll or bin in our room. There appeared to be a lot of ants which made their way from the door to our room, these were swiftly dealt with by ourselves! There were several mosquitoes which can be expected however we haven't experienced this anywhere else. The room got ridiculously hot during the day, even with the fan going 24/7. There was no storage space with the room being rather small. The walls are so thin you feel like you are sitting next to the people next door.

Overall, we feel that Tamu Tamu and their partner hotel is very overpriced with other hotels massively exceeding this quality for the same price, if not less. We were never moved and so spent the whole of our stay at the dua Nina partner hotel. As a couple I felt okay however had I been with girlfriends or on my own I would have felt very uncomfortable. The place was dirty and not nice even for two young travellers who can deal with less than exceptional quality. Finally words, find elsewhere to stay!

Totally honest review for fellow confused travellers.

This place is just not worth your time. The staff when we got in was lying around doing nothing and could barely be asked to get up and show us to our room. The outside looked nothing like the photos. Trash everywhere and don't even get me started on the looks of the outside kitchen. The thought of having a free breakfast coming out from there makes my stomach turn! 
When we finally got to our room it wasn't really too bad. Until we opened the bathroom door. The toilet brush, which wasn't exactly new and unused, was lying freely on the floor. The floor didn't seem clean and there was wholes in the roof. 
We ended up finding another place within the hour and rushing out of there. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
