Sunset Beach Bungalow

What an amazing spot right on the sea front with turtles less then 5m into the sea. 
The rooms where basic but super clean with great air conditioning for them hot days. 

The staff are beyond anything we have experienced on our trip which prompted me to leave my first ever review. 

My partner was suffering with some dehydration and they called the doctor for us, arranged special food and anything we needed they arranged and couldn't be more attentive. 

It's a family run business which they have built up them selves which is always lovey to hear when coming to a part of the world where investment from other country's means the locals don't always have the opportunity. 

I couldn't recommend them enough.

If you like stepping out from your beach bungalow and taking a few steps to snorkel with tropical fish & turtles, this is the place for you. If you like relaxing on covered beach palapas, this is the place for you. If you like peace and quiet, delicious seafood curry & chilled coconut served with a warm smile, this is the place for you. We stayed two glorious weeks here during the end of the rainy season. WiFi was often out, so we unplugged. Though the close-quarter bungalows aren’t  soundproof and the affordability and beauty here lures in many weary travelers, fortunately people were respectful of bedtime hours. We highly recommend this place.  The expert, kind staff warmed our hearts. The reef healed our souls.

Right on the beach. Walk off the beach to view statues, turtles, fish, coral and all. Beat the crowds and go early as many many boats arrive from Gilli T.
Excellent food, accom and service.
Much more lay back than Gilli T and a whole new world.
A definate yes from us.


Found this place by just walking along the beach. Nice bungalows with sea view from where you can enjoy the sunset. The owners are really friendly and when one of us wasn’t feeling very well they offered to make tea and were very helpful. The bungalows themselves are clean and comfortable. Would definitely go here again! 

Sadly we were unable to get to sunset beach due to ferry’s being cancelled. This was on the day we were due to arrive. Sunset allowed no fee cancellation which was awesome of them. We will book with them next year

We stayed 3 nights and had a beautiful stay.  Make sure you bring sandals to walk on the beach cause there is almost no sand but all corals.  No more chairs there, only bean bags but very confortable.  There were definately short staff, but SINDRA managed very well to take care of us, had an amazing guest service and worked his butt off!!!  The rooms were nice... you walk out of your room, put your snorkeling gear on and swim with turtles!!!!  Just amazing!  And at last... THE BEST SUNSET EVER!!!  Thanks for our beautiful stay!  =)

Bungalow rooms here are spartan, but the staff is great.  While Gili T is pulsing away, relax peacefully across the channel with some fantastic sunset views.  The techno-club music & mosques of Gili T are only a murmur on this fine stretch of beach.  And the locals are more reggae focused.  Makes for a mellow, relaxing stay.  (And the Indonesian lumpia on the menu here are amazing!)

Late cancellation and no charge... very accommodating

Spent 3 nights in a beachfront hut. Lovely  views. A huge comfy bed with spacious bathroom front terrace with seats and a table

Constructive feedback
Friendly staff but not very proactive, they spend a lot of time on the bed behind the bar, or sat smoking in their phones. Things seemed to be an effort 
This place has so much potential to be so much more. The bar area needs a good clean and the rubbish removed, there were empty plastic bottles on the floor when we arrived at the end of bar still there when we left. The bin behind bar needed a good scrub. It really puts you off eating there. 
Maybe ask customers on the beach if they want drinks / lunch etc. We would have spent so much more with you. 
Aircon doesn’t really work you can’t really feel it even if you are underneath it. 
Bedside tables would be a bonus

Booked snorkelling was told approx 10am to 3pm. boat called “why not” man was miserable and very rude. We were only out for 2 hours so felt we had been “had”

When we arrived, the helpful staff member did not appear to have a record of our booking. I don’t know enough Indonesian, and the staff don’t know enough English, so we struggled to communicate. I had to show him the booking confirmation on my phone. The bungalows are not as advertised. They were built in the late 80's early 90's. All the buildings need to be fully renovated. The sliding doors to our bungalow kept jamming and we spent a considerable amount of time trying to open and close them without damaging them. The left fitting for curtain rail at the front of the bungalow, detached when we pulled the curtains open. The lower section (30cm) of the two walls inside the bungalow had exposed plaster, that if you came into contact with, would rub off onto your clothes. We paid extra for a “sea view”. It is not a clear view of the sea from the bungalows. The room was lacking in a number of "amenities/facilities". There is no soundproofing (if you have ever gone camping and stayed in a tent, that’s the sound attributes), if you have never gone camping, it meant you can hear every sound (I mean every sound!) made outside of the bungalow. They claim there are power outlets near the bed, there are none. There are no bedside lamps, only one bedside table and one wardrobe (both made from cheap plywood). There was only on light in the bungalow (a very bright bulb, there was another light socket, but no bulb). There is no hot water (to be fair they don’t advertise that they provide hot water) the shower head holder in the bathroom was broken, so you have to hold the shower hose to shower. The towel rail in the bathroom is “fixed” in place by 3 nails and falls down when if you pull a towel off as opposed to lifting it off. The two towels provided were clean but were threadbare. The breakfasts are good. At though not a wide choice. The first breakfast there was no orange juice, no lemon juice nor milk. The resort wasn’t full, so we didn’t understand why there was a shortage of the previously mentioned items. The air-conditioner was effective. The bed was comfortable, the bedding was clean and fresh. The beach area was great (beanbags, tables and chairs, parasols on some of the tales, and raised platforms with low tables, beanbags/cushions with roofs). Again, some of the beach furniture needs to be replaced. The location is very quiet (at night you can hear the music from Gili Trawangan, though it’s no too loud). The staff were friendly and helpful. What they (the owners) are charging for the bungalows per night is too expensive for what you get. If it wasn’t for the fact, we had quite a lot of luggage, and were only staying for two nights, we would have relocated. On the last night the wi-fi went down at around 21:00 and was still down when we checked out at 11:00 the following morning. Personally, wouldn’t stay there again if given a choice.

Not as advertised

If you had decided to come to sunset beach bungalows on gili meno for a relaxing time you will be disappointed, not only do they play dance rave music at a volume to compete with gili T, but the staff all lie around with their friends sucking up the wifi. At night they sit around getting drunk, regard the place as theirs and guests are just a passing thing. While the bungalows are basic but clean as well as the grounds. The food was fine along with service.  Sindra been the so called manager shows the least amount of appreciation for the customers who pay for his booze and what else, which affects the other staff, who if lead properly would be a good team. Doesn't help get gili meno back on its feet.
