The Waterfront Hotel

We have stayed here on a couple of occasions and also in the bungalows in the Mata Dive Resort right next door. I just love the place , as I well remember the seemingly narrow piece of land being cleared to build it. Alex the owner designed the garden so well and the layout is so good that the terraces of the bungalows are extremely private. In just a few years the garden had matured into a wonderful haven for birds and butterflies. Gili Air has got busier over time but the rooms were extremely quiet inside and outside. The staff kept the room spotlessly clean , always visiting during the morning dive. It was so nice to get back to a different towel sculpture every day....a mermaid once and a turtle on another day. The room was very conducive to a long sleep with really good quality black out curtains. I had every breakfast and lunch in the restaurant and did not have a single meal that I did not like. The staff are charming and friendly and chat to guests, which is so nice. I dived every day with Manta Divers next door. Over repeated visits it is clear that the marine life around Gili Air has greatly improved. For example I saw more sharks on this trip than on all of the previous five trips put together.
