We stayed 4 nights at Kaluku, absolutely lovely, friendly, amazing staff. Great position on the beach with shade trees and very easy access to the best snorkeling on the eastern side of the island. At high tide it’s an 80m swim to the coral edge with fabulous fish and coral. We saw two turtles and had a blast in the water. The best time to snorkel is one hour either side of high tide. Later than this and the current starts to really pull. You can hire bikes and snorkeling gear from the front desk. They have good English and are eager to help. The restaurant is best for breakfast with the Nasi Goreng being the tastiest we had in Indonesia. Pancakes, juices and smoothies are good as well. Unzip restaurant - about a 10 min walk towards the south has fabulous BBQ seafood, ideal for dinner and with half price happy hour cocktails it’s a winner. The hotel arranged for a taxi from the airport (approx 400K IDR) to the port and then a water taxi (approx 350K IDR) drop off right at the beach entrance to the resort, fabulous service. It was on the quieter side of the island and we loved our stay at Kaluku.
