Stayed for 8 days or so and had a good time. The huts are built to have a tall roof which makes it feel spacious and nice. Good price. Minimalistic and open! Don't expect anything fancy! Had a chill and friendly vibe, the people who work here are really nice. 

I absolutely loved my stay here. Ruby and the staff are incredibly kind. I visited with my cousins and they made it so special. Very accommodating. They helped us with local tips and excursions. I had an air conditioned bungalow with an outdoor shower and my own front porch. I even had a desk for work. You are less than 100 meters away from the ocean. You can hear waves while you are sleeping. I rebooked a few times because I did not want to leave.

We were 5 people and we stayed 6 days at Pondok Pantay and we can only say good things about this place. The bungalows were really nice and clean, the outside bathroom was awesome, huge and clean, and you wake up inside a beautiful garden. Also the breakfast was really great, big omelette, fresh fruits, juice and coffee/tea. Also the muslim family that manages the business was very nice and friendly, although a bit shy in the beginning, so we had to work on it. But that's absolutely ok, since there are huge differences in our culture. We always tried to speak our few indonesian words with them and after a short while we got smiles back. I really don't understand people who behave like “tourists“, walking around almost naked the whole time on a muslim island and only thinking of their “right of holiday“, not considering the different culture in the place they go and afterwards writing bad critics/reviews saying the owners were “unfriendly“ without considering any aspects of the different culture. You neo-colonialists should rather stay home!

Loved! Highly recommend!

Very very nice!

Chill place with 

Only stayed one night and it was a good place to sleep and base ourselves out of. Super close to the north beach and nice location. The rooms were nice but not very clean - the AC was the best we had in indonesia though ! Staff were friendly when present and we ate food at restaurants as the kitchen here looked pretty average !
Overall a nice place to stay by the beach but with a ,little extra work this place could be super nice.

Lots of potential

Overall Pondok does not live up to the photos - perhaps the bungalows were previously well maintained but this is no longer the case.

Staff:
- no one manning reception (those who seemed to be the main staff were running the business on the side of working at a neighbouring dive school so were rarely present at the bungalows) 
- other staff generally unfriendly towards guests
- we stayed in the bungalow closest to breakfast, staff sat nearly outside our room making a lot of noise early in the morning

Tip: request bungalows 1-3 for a quieter and more pleasant stay in general

Rooms:
- single sheet for bedding, again not as photos indicated
- bedding and towels were not replaced at all during our 3 night stay, we were forced to request replacements before any were supplied
- rooms were never cleaned/tidied in general, again we had to sweep the rooms ourselves
-no mosquito net, broken lamp
- bathroom sink not working
- lukewarm water at best
- surrounding grounds of the bungalows were again not as nice as the pictures! Washing everywhere and generally dirty

Breakfast:
- fine, but query cleanliness of the kitchen, visible through a window from the breakfast area and looked dirty and poorly maintained
- fresh papaya juice was good

There are so many choices of places to stay on Gili Air, so until they get their act together would advise going somewhere else!
