Just a few well decked out rustic cabins with a raffish “Robinson Crusoe” charm. Embedded in a lush , slightly jungly garden and part of the local community, so you feel you’re getting an authentic experience, rather than in a sanitised resort bubble. Ozan is the friendly facilitator who makes you your delicious breakfast and helps you with anything you may need. The verandahs are justifiably famous for their salubrious comforts: lounge, hammock, jungle view, where you can while away the hours reading and relaxing. The beds are very comfy and the rooms have thoughtful details, like a torch, tea/coffee/kettle, drinking water and emergency lamps/ torches in case of blackouts. If you do your homework, there are shortcut lanes that will have you at the beach and restaurants in minutes. Try and orientate the geography as soon as you get there. The calls to prayer are part of local life, and you get used to it. I’m any case earplugs are supplied. I normally baulk at places that are so cheap, because of the ‘you get what you pay for’ platitude. But here , for what you pay, you get a fantastic piece of chilled out rustic Gilli Air accommodation with plenty of heart.
