Gils Villa

The villa is not brand new but it is so well maintained that it remains top range with traditional furniture selected with good taste. Considering the crazy Balinese traffic jam Candidasa is a good spot if you want to reach a lot of good spots around whatever your interest is - diving with Tulamben and USS Liberty 1 hour driving distance, Padang Bay within 15 min to reach then Manta Point by boat - temples with Taman Tirta Gangga (Water Palace) and Ujung within 45 minutes - balinese culture with Tenganan village within 15 minutes Ubud and ricefields a bit more than 1 hour, etc. The best is that all of those options can be organised with Wayan the Villa Manager who is just phenomenal and will make everything possible. The rest of the staff is amazing (Kadek, Ketut x 2 Carmi) very quiet and will only show up if you need assistance. Our family was composed with 4 adults, 1 teenager and our 2 boys aged 2 years + and 8 months and we all had a great time (staff was kind enough to provide time to time a bit of support with the boys) Candidasa village as such is within walking distance 10 to 20 minutes (ATM and Convenient stores at 10 minutes, beach 15 min, restaurants 20 min but in most of the case you can benefit from a free transfer). It is good to go out a bit but we definitively had more qualitative meals at the villa. Get ready to wake up with the temple nearby at 6.00 am. It might not be welcomed at first but you will get used to it and then having a complete day following sunrise/sunset (basically 6 to 6) is one of the best way to enjoy Bali.
