Our group of 4 took an evening boat cruise around the backwater and it was AMAZING. Our boat guide Vishnu did an especially incredible job! 

We had a gorgeous view of the sunset and learned about the local wildlife. Would highly recommend this experience to any travelers or visitors to Cochi, India.

Ben's Homestay is an amazing authentic Kerala homestay experience. There are two AC house boats for staying and going around the backwaters. There is also an open house boat for sightseeing on the backwaters. Truly memorable was the visit to Ben's fish farm. We got there by the houseboat and got to see karimeen (a local river fish), crab and prawn culture on the farm. There is also a rice farm and coconut gardens. We can feed the fish and stayed a night at the farm. Home food is served for breakfast.  

I cannot recommend a stay at Ben's Homestay highly enough. This is an authentic and tranquil piece of paradise that's as unique a stay as I've ever experienced.  One is taken away to another time, close to nature and to the peaceful rhythms of life. 
On top of that, Ben, his family, and his people are totally wonderful and provide great service. Be sure to take a cruise on the boat through the backwaters of Kerala—a once-in-a-lifetime experience! I cannot praise the on-premise ayurvedic massages enough...Oh, did I mention Anju's cooking? To die for! Really some of the best food I had in India. 
I am so looking forward to my next visit!

Ben and his wife Anju are the most wonderful people. They treated us like gold while we were there. Ben has a boat and can take you on cruises through the local waterways. Anju's cooking is amazing. A great visit.

We can't speak highly enough of Ben's warmth and hospitality. Ben's affability made our stay so easy and relaxing: he offered wonderful suggestions and guidance about what do in Kochin and beyond. From our first email communications, we had questions about where to go and about traveling with our three-year-old son and Ben assured us that there was no need to worry: he would help to arrange the details of our trip. This was an understatement because Ben did not help but rather he organized so much for us, working out the transport and accommodations, and making our travel seamless and effortless. We could never have made these kinds of arrangements ourselves or seen the places we did without Ben.

Ben's place itself is lovely and comfortable with a separate villa apartment on the coconut-tree covered, riverfront property. Ben's wife, Anju, is a fabulous cook; she prepared all the meals, which were, hands down, the best we ate during our entire holiday. We had a wonderful time relaxing on the riverfront property, touring Ben's organic shrimp and rice farm, kayaking, taking a sunset boat cruise, and learning how to make some of Anju's tasty dishes from the master herself. We made very few plans for this holiday but wouldn't change a thing about it; we miss it already; we hope to return to Ben's in the future.

The room view was good had a lake view in front,
Ben was really helpful in helping me and planning out my vacation .
Bens wife is a really good cook, the breakfast is really good.
We also had a 1 day trip to amusement to wonder la kochi, it was a 1 hour travel from bens home stay,

Few additional information to fellow travelers which might be helpful.
1) Reaching Bens home stay : Bensh is below/between a highway bridge, We figured out it was under the bridge (We have to circle the bridge twice to figure that out so it might be helpful for someone), once you are close by please call bens so that they will guide you.
Be aware the road connecting bens below the bridge is not so good but you have no choice to drive by that (it will be just 150 meter to 300 meter below the bridge)
2) Shops near by : There are very less local shops near bens, you need to walk around 500 meters to 700 under the bridge to find grocery shop/small super market (they take credit/debit cards)
3) Traveling from Bens : I find it difficult to book a ride in ola app, better install Uber, As all the rides we took,  The drivers suggested to use Uber
4) No restaurants near : There are no restaurants near bens, if you need lunch or dinner have to take a cab, If you are planning to cook, better inform them early before your stay, bens wife was helpful in  setting up kitchen there is a small shop where you can basic south indian grocery items
5) Other activities : We did kayaking (500 INR for 2 person), there is a boat cruise which costs about 2500 INR for few hours which we didn't do. boat stay is available i didn't remember the cost

The title summarizes our experience. A dozen of our friends from all parts of the country converged at cochin to celeberate the 25th year of passing out from college and availed the backwater cruise service offered by Ben on 13th and 14th. The first evening was spent on board his houseboat. And the second on board the Yacht, “Sawfish” Our motley crowd consisted of herbivores who couldn’t even stand the smell of fish to egg-iterian to carnivores. The home cooked food of Ben’s wife satiated every taste bud of each of us. Thanks a ton Anju . Special thanks to Ben’s Man Friday, Rijo switching between boat driver to DJ to engine mechanic to serving food ..all with a pleasant smile that could melt the rock of Gibralter. Not to forget Anil and saddam who were always on their toes making sure the intermittent rains didn’t affect the fun.
The cruise through the backwaters of cochin was enthralling and the occasional squalls added to the excitement. The lure of the bean bags scattered on the deck of sawfish was overpowering. And as the sun went down..DJ ..Karaoke…beverages and lip smacking dishes..fantabulous

This is a very nice resort, great ambience, superb service with a smile, and value for money. Will be visiting again for sure.
Rooms are spacious and tastefully fine, food is excellent, service is superb, all in all, a very pleasant time during our stay here.

My friend and I stayed at Ben's during monsoon season.  Ben was out of town the first few days and Anju his wife made us feel at home. We found Ben's cottage on the river - relaxing, beautiful and comfortable. The cottage is spacious with simple decor. The large outdoor yet private and secure bathroom offered me the first chance to take a shower during a rain shower. A cool experience. 

We enjoyed a daily breakfast of fresh fruit and Keralan breakfast dishes. Our boat ride to Ben's farm was beautiful and quite enjoyable. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. Unfortunately, our stay was interrupted by increasing monsoon rains and flooding. As it turned out, we ended up experiencing the worst flooding in Kerala in over 60 years. Ben was calm, organized and made us feel safe. We did have to evacuate the cottage and ultimately Ben's main house. Ben made sure to find us a hotel in a non-flood zone. He also had a friend of his help us find the best way to leave Kerala, which was not easy due to a flooded airport, cancelled trains, and many of the roads were blocked. During this time Ben was dealing with safety of his own family and home. I can not even imagine how to balance guests and family but Ben did an amazing job. Thank you so much for making sure were safe.

I do plan to come back and visit during a different time of year.  Thank you again Ben, Anju and family!
