Paradise Inn Guest House

If you are looking for a homey place, this is your place. A nicely renovated guest house that is run by a young and energetic Yass(?). He says "Yes" to all your requests, apart from payment by credit card. The location of the guest house is right inside the alleys of the old city of Varanasi and it is very close to the Ganga river (Just few steps away). It is also in the middle between the different ghats, so it is wonderfull base to wander between the ghats. To arrive to the guest house, you will need to call and get directions and in our case, our flight was delayed and arrived late (22:30) and he came with his baby daughter to show us the way. Take into consideration that from the main road, it is about 7 min walk. As long as you do not have a very heavy luggage, it's really not an issue. The place has a rooftop restaurant. Everything is cooked fresh and very tasty, but expect that it make take long (regular Indian time). We found the food was very good and they were very accommodating to any request. The room was nicely designed and clean and all was functioning well. We had the room with the bathroom attached and a great view to the Ganga river with monkeys climbing on the tree next to our balcony (just make sure to close the door to the balcony). They organized an early morning boat (rowing boat) to see the sunrise. I suggest that if your budget allows a motor boat, check this option, as the rowing man had difficulty rowing against the stream. Also, you need to establish from the very beginning where you will be taken. Otherwise, after the hour, you will be asked to add more money to see more. The sunrise was beautiful, but we did not see many bathers, as the boat was mostly in the south ghats.
